I'm playing with the Grey Wolves 3.0 mod and when I'm on my crew management page it doesn't show the hull integrity. Where would I find that now?

The reason I ask is because I went after a convoy and managed to ship 2 Cargo ships before the 3 escorts started depth charging me. After a few hours and being able to control the flooding I got away. I still have some more torpedoes so I was thinking about running ahead of the convoy and getting some of the lead ships but I don't know how much my hull integrity has been affected. I'd hate to dive deep and have my sub implode

GWX removes it, but if you use SH3 Commander, you can add it in again through the options.

Gotcha.

Did the Grey Wolves mod get rid of it to add to the realism?

Ayup - IRL as a Kaleun all you would know is that something broke, and then was repaired, but not EXACTLY how well - many found out the hard way that the hull wasn't 100%.

In general I agree, but the complete absence of any indicator leaves too much info out of it. I think a Kaleun and his engineer could make a distinction between a 99% hull and one at 5%. Such things as dings and dismounted fittings and broken equipment would provide a general indication that the hull was compromised. After thinking about it I have decided to use it, but only as a general guideline. I don't try to figure out a mathematical formula that I can use to precisely calculate my safe diving depth. There's still enough vagary grey area to make you sweat. Recently I was being forced deep with a damaged hull and was sweating bullets, expecting to hear that final, fatal crumpling sound. Fortunately, the escorts ran out of fireworks and after many hours I was able to slip away. Straight home to the repair yard after that experience.

There's a mod out there that color codes your hull integrity instead of the number. It will give you at least some indication but not an exact number. A nice compromise.

Here's the thread:

It tkaes some tweaking of game files, but is well worth it.

I presume that the Damage Control gang and the repairs on flooding, etc would give a general indication - limited to what they had access to. Submerged, aside from sound clues, there was very little to base a good indication on. It happened often enuf on test dives after modifications or major repairs back at the harbor that things went horribly wrong - in the middle of the Atlantic under combat conditions while submerged I tend to think that the estimate would in fact be based more on intuition and feel than other indicators. Once all was over, surfaced and with divers over the side - bring back the percent indicator! LOL!

Not to mention that one of the things SH3Cmdr brings to the party is a variable crush depth in the first place .....

Sharkbit, that looks very interesting. Thanks for sharing it.
