A DCG Campaign set around January 1944 from the Axis side.

This thread is a placeholder really whilst I try and figure out DCG, in the meantime we can get a few missions out of it.

Mission One:
Intercept enemy aircraft over Potsdam.
Aircraft: Oberon and Raptor in Bf-109G6s, Task Force in Fw-190A5.

Oberon report:
Engaged B-17s at 5000m over Potsdam. Tried Boom and Zoom, not entirely successful, need to work on angles of attack. Suspected hit on fuel tank of B-17, later confirmed by observers as a kill. During pondering on the location of the escort, P-47s and P-51s turned up. Nearly rammed by one P-47 while another managed to gun me up some. With damaged engine and smashed up cockpit, I RTB'd and crashed due to bad visibility.
Raptor hit two B-17s and then the gunners hit him, he RTB'd with a badly mauled plane. Task Force got one B-17 via Selbstopfer.

Kills:
Oberon: 1 B-17
Raptor: 2 B-17s
Task Force: 1 B-17 (KIA)

We're soooooo screwed.....:dead:

BTW will there be a flight tonight?

Oberon
10-01-10, 09:03 AM
Was planning to have the next one on Monday and then if we can get as many of us together on Monday then we can work out a flight schedule. :salute:

Oberon
10-04-10, 08:41 AM
Don't forget, tonight 2000Z! We die in glorious fireballs!

A quote from the last flight, for Schroeder:

Oberon: You know...this is a rather strange thing for a Brit to say...but...I've missed flying the 109...
Raptor: That's treason isn't it?
Oberon: Punishable by the Tower, I believe.

There is one problem I have just foreseen...I won't be able to fly Wednesday night because I start work at 11.

Oberon
10-04-10, 04:34 PM
I don't know what was up with my microphone. Stupid thing.

Anyway, we'll see about getting some missions going once I've grappled with DCG. I don't know when the next flight will be. Unless Hunter wants to host something on Wednesday. I honestly don't know.

Formatted my PC the other week and thought..''aah..what the heck'' reinstalled the whole lot...though I plan to ''Join'' the flights rather then hosting them..unless it's needed due technical dificulties when there was a flight planned on that evening.

They probally kill me for this the next flight, but they missed me :O:

besides....I don't have any other Flight/Helo sims I could play online, still waiting for that "$·@?¡! 1.02 Spanish Patch for DCS:BS. :damn: (last time I buy a localized version of a sim:stare:)

We could do a campaign mission both today and tomorrow, since it's DCG and not a hand-made campaign.

So...thoughts on a Pacific War campaign? One mission per flight-day sounds reasonable enough to enable the flight times.

Raptor1
10-06-10, 05:06 PM
It's theoretically possible, but which one?

Oberon
10-06-10, 05:12 PM
I'm looking at a Pacific Grand Campaign here...got a few options. I'll play around with it.

You sure you want to play as the Japanese though or as the US?

Raptor1
10-06-10, 05:21 PM
Depends on which campaign it is, probably...

HunterICX
10-07-10, 04:59 AM
Say...I have been googling

has anyone heard of SEOW?
Scorched Earth Online War, a IL2 Online campaign tool.

http://wiki-seow-en.swil.fr/index.php/Main_Page

http://seow.sourceforge.net/

it's quite a download too..620Mb

HunterICX

Raptor1
10-07-10, 05:13 AM
One essential difference between SEOW and other IL-2 online wars is that there is no computer-generated movement or opposition.

That makes me wonder whether there are other such things with AI...

Raptor1
10-07-10, 05:24 AM
That's what I said. :stare:

I was simply wondering if there similar things which do have an AI opponent. probably not, but who knows.

It could still theoretically work, though, one of us just has to be the traitor and plot out the enemy's operations...

Oberon
10-07-10, 07:54 AM
Nice idea though, good for larger groups.

In regards to the campaign, I'd like to try and do some kind of grand campaign starting with perhaps a single mission at Pearl and then Guam onwards through till the defence of Okinawa at the end, or something like that.

My knowledge of the Pacific War is pretty abysmal, so I'm hoping that this will be a bit of a learning experience in both terms.

Crécy

Pacific campaign sounds good. Shall we start tonight?

Learning from a computer generated campaign?

It's a start isn't it?! I mean, I don't know half the aircraft in the Pacific War...I know most of the USN and USAF planes but my knowledge of Japanese aircraft is limited to the Zero, Betty and Kate.

Raptor1

Zero, Betty and Kate.

That's three times as many as most people know... :O:

2 questions...

number one, are we flying tonight.

number two, am I going to be flying for the germans, or thos japanease... and there planes I always catch on fire.

So...what's planned for tonight? :hmmm:

Raptor1
10-13-10, 07:56 AM
Weren't we supposed to start our new campaign tonight?

Oberon
10-13-10, 08:05 AM
Has anyone got a mission for this campaign yet? :hmmm:

Raptor1
10-13-10, 08:16 AM
I don't, not sure about Hunter.

I could probably make one, but this is sort of useless without any coordination. We need to put up a pilot roster and decide on starting map, date and things like that.

Oberon
10-13-10, 08:46 AM
Indeed...I was under the impression that we'd be starting in the Spanish Civil War, so the map would probably be Cartagena (sp?), but not so sure.

So, I say again, what's planned for tonight? :hmmm:

Raptor1
10-13-10, 08:50 AM
There are four Spanish Civil War maps that I know of, one of them being Cartagena, the others are of Andalucia, the Ebro and the Aragon Front.

Raptor1
10-13-10, 08:56 AM
Okay, I have an idea, how about a Czechoslovakia 1938/1939 prequel to start it off?

Schroeder
10-13-10, 09:17 AM
As long as it contains planes...go ahead.
I'm in "I don't care mode" again...:-?

Raptor1
10-13-10, 09:22 AM
Bah, you just don't understand the art of making a mission without aircraft... :nope:

:O:

Oberon
10-13-10, 09:45 AM
There are four Spanish Civil War maps that I know of, one of them being Cartagena, the others are of Andalucia, the Ebro and the Aragon Front.

Heh, I didn't know that.

Ok, Czech is good to start with. :yeah:

Raptor1
10-13-10, 09:46 AM
Very well, I have an idea already, so I'll put together a couple of missions for today.

HunterICX
10-13-10, 09:57 AM
We didn't really had time to discuss the coordination about how we plan to do the missions in the FMB on monday.

My idea is that we each make missions with the theme (example Themes: Spanish Civil War, Invasion of Poland, Battle of France etc etc)our missions do not have a campaign progess but are like assigned missions, we can basicly go to one thing to the other...one mission we sink a ship near the coast of Malaga and the other missions we are patrolling the mountains up north of Spain.

Perhaps we should share the mission description before its going to be played (like a couple of days before) to one another in PM's to give the others perhaps ideas for a mission after that one and decide in what order we're going to play them.

HunterICX

Oberon
10-13-10, 10:30 AM
I know precisely nothing about the Czech campaign, aside from the possibility of Avias. So I'll grab the Aragon map and see about some SCW missions. :yeah:

Raptor1
10-13-10, 10:32 AM
It's just a couple of missions I'm throwing up, then we can proceed to the SCW when we decided on things.

Oberon
10-13-10, 11:07 AM
Actually, I think I'll stick with Cartagena, Aragon requires too many separate mods.

Raptor1
10-13-10, 11:11 AM
That would make sense if the campaign is to take place in 1939, the battles around Cartagena were fought in (March, IIRC) 1939 while the Aragon Offensive ended in 1938.

Schroeder
10-13-10, 12:10 PM
Since we are talking about crappy aircraft of 1938:
We had this plane as our guest at our airfield on Sunday.(sorry for the bad quality but my camera is more a toy than anything...)

We used the original rubber rope take off technique to get that thing "airborne".
Unfortunately I couldn't take any pictures of it as I was always pulling ropes and had to help out later in our "bar" to serve food and drinks to the audience, but here is a video of another SG38's rubber rope take off.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZFgNnR4cVs

Although that thing doesn't really fly far (usually you launch it down a steep hill to give it some "altitude") it was really fun seeing that old thing fly (well this one has been build by a Czech in 1999 so it's not really old). My grandfather had told me a lot of stories about the time when he flew one of those, so for me it was living history.:D

Oberon
10-13-10, 12:40 PM
Awesome pics :yeah: I'll have a look at that vid in a second, just up to my armpits in FMB.

Just a quick confirm, what aircraft have we all chosen?

109E3s for Schroeder, Hunter and Task Force?
MS-410 for me
I-16 Type 28 for Raptor?
