Hello everybody,

I'm a naval historian living in Canada, and I've recently started trying to optimise my Silent Hunter III interface.

As a historian, I'm very interested in maximising the 'really being there' feel of the game, as this is the thing you don't get in dry, academic books.

I've been deeply impressed by the amazing mods I've found in the forums, and would like to help out, within the compas of my extremely limited artistic and programming abilities.

Thanks for the warm welcome, chaps. I've had a go thinking about creating a 'forgiving' fatigue model for SH3 which is intended to maximise flexibility. Looking through the forums, it seems that there's been some very sophisticated thinking about fatigue modeling, but most of it seems to have become too old and been dropped.

Where would be the best place, in this forum, to post questions about modding this system?

Should you decide to try modding SH4:

USN

Kriegsmarine

Or SH5:

Welcome to the forums! SubSim loves modders.

Hi Welcome aboard.

For realism I put my both foot in a water filled bucket while playing SH3:O:
When there's flooding.

Many thanks for advice. I'll put together a post for the modding board with my ideas and see what you experts think.

And that's an excelent idea, Castout. I was considering a garden sprinkler, but for some reason both my wife and computer objected. :-)

You could just ask your wife to pour an ice cold cup of salt water over your head every couple of hours. She might go for that. :yep: :O:

You're thinking small! True commitment to realism is where you have somebody seal you inside an oil drum, then hit it repeatedly with a sledge hammer before throwing it into an industrial car crusher. There's no other way to get that real depth-charge feeling.

You must rub raw sea salt into your eyes first :yep:
