Last night in my previous Kaleun's last patrol of the war I had an escort lined up for a perfect kill shot with an an acoustic torpedo. I can't recall which type it was, sorry. As the escort passed across my fore tubes, I fired the torpedo. To my horror and disgust, it made a 180 and sailed harmlessly away. My own engines were stopped, so it wasn't tracking on me. Any ideas? Do these things occasionally suffer from tracking errors? That destroyer captain had no idea how close he had come to being blown out of the water. Lucky sailor, I say.

How close was your goal (DD) When you fired eelen?

I took into account the minimum distance of 400M of run to arm. The destroyer was over 500M away and doing 12 knots. The torpedo simply came out of the tube and went completely the other way. I have never seen anything like it until now.

Maybe you some how fudged the TDC up?? Id assume that would have some initial effect on it right?? Or what about whales and or dolphins?? I mean, if one is closer to your boat than the destroyer and making noise.. Then some one is getting ready to be put into a can and shipped off somewhere to eat.

Perhaps I messed something up with my TDC. At this point I feel as if I shall never know. Anyhow, lesson learned is to always double check your settings before firing.

A bit too short distance, then it needs time for arm.och it can then "disappear"

Maybe it's a Commander sabotage?
