More targets? jet wash would be enough to bring these things down. Cessnas on water.

"Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the few countries which managed to design, build and use flying boats in a short time," said Defense Minister Brig. Gen. Ahmad Vahidi, who oversaw the delivering of the aircraft at the Bandar Abbas naval facility on the Persian Gulf near the Strait of Hormuz.

I didn't even know they could do anything all by themselves.

This is great progress ...

I would like one in a jet model to go between islands.

If anyone that has ever been to the air/space museum in Balboa Park in San Diego, California has seen the delta ski jet outside the front doors.

I remember seeing it blow up live on TV on San Diego Bay when I was just a kid of 12 or so

FFS!

Back to Russia it is for me...

Sure, the reactors and boats look cool. They were cool 50 years ago...

Dude its Iran 50 years ago is the new new for them :haha:

BTW you might want to post that plane in the 'worst aircraft' thread. :03:

Is it just me or does that thing bear a striking resembelance to hydroplane race boats ?

I assume these will be used for recon and the like? Seems like all you'd need was a heavy machine gun and some good aim to bring one of these down :hmmm: But they look like they'd be cheap to make.

Sorry I was too busy laughing at this thing... :har:

Don't see anyplace for a bomb or missile (Not that this thing could carry much payload its engine looks like it came off my lawnmower). Except for recce from isolated islands these things are not very useful.

Popping up from an islet 4 kms away and coming towards you skimming just over the waves is not that bad a deal. No need for a bomb or missile. It IS the missile! Martyrdom anyone???

I wanted to put the ":D" smiley but to be on te safe side I'll settle for :hmmm:

Might work against a unescorted Tanker, but against a CIWS armed ship it would be toast. Its big and its subsonic making it easy pray for something that can turn seagulls to soup. A C-802 would be a better investment.

:har:

nice job iran...you just brought a toy knife to a gunfight!

do you honestly think one of these would be fast enough, stealthy enough, or have enough payload to be combat effective? We have things designed to deal with this. Ever heard of a phalanx? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phalanx_CIWS
it's been upgraded specifically to be effective against small aircraft

Its propaganda. Im sure Iran is telling their citizens how "awesome" these things are while we are all laughing.

"Squardon (2 delievered)"

Does that mean they have a squadron of 2 and the photo was shopped?

At least we get to laugh for a change.

A BB gun could bring that down:har:
Now the Royal Navy's Type 45's have a target they can confidently shoot down:D

It looks like they're made from boxes of frosted flakes :har:

But one of these would be cool to have personally, I think.
