I have windows xp. I originally (it took me 6 attempts + spell check to spell that) had problems with installing GWX 3 gold, but I finally worked them out. Now, the problem stumped me. The menu loads properly, but when I enter a mission, the load bar proceeds to about 9/10 completed, then it freezes. I am unable to post a screenshot because the only way to get out of this freeze is to hard reset my computer. Can anyone help me? :damn:
Could you give a few more details about your computer? I had similar problems when I first started SH3 lo these many moons ago - turned out to be a memory problem ( as in not enuf). A similar situation exists now when I try and load too many mods - it gets to a point and then just barfs.....
i also had the same problem :damn:
but my fix was, that i had a higer resolution on the game then the monitor had on my desk.
so i had to change the game res whit a little mod called res fix for Xp.
set it to 1280*1024
it worked for me :salute:
The load bar will pause for a while at that point before it finishes loading, give it a few minutes to finish, there is a lot going on at that point in the loading process.:yep:

True, sometimes I'm almost convinced it's gonna crash and then it finally finishes and I'm in my uboat.
IME if it's actually stopped loading and there's a problem/crash, an error box pops up saying the program has encounted a problem and needs to close.

We're in agreement. If the screen doesn't go black and give you an error message then it's probably still loading. GWX has a lot of files, and can take awhile to load.

My adice would be to take note of #3, 4, 5 and 6....they are all reflective of what can happen.
The SH3 engine is now over five year old and loads ALL of the SH3 world files and campaign layers, unlike the newer SHIV enfine for example which only loads six months at a time.
No doubt one of the above responses will have been the reason, please advise us of which one so the rest of the community can share in the knowledge

I just noticed that, a little late I admit. At least you cared enough to try, which is more than most folks do.

Are they still in the 7z folders? You need www.7zip.com (http://www.7zip.com)

Double check the exe file.
So problems while downloading have caused the exe file to not be named correctly.
Just right click it and rename it GWX.exe
Then it should be fine.
But you should turn your speakers up really loud.
