About time too, the Snatch needed replacing years ago. Now lets see if the MOD can procure these without going over budget.

Fat chance on the underbudget. UK defence procurement is royally screwed up, in both priorities and cost-effectiveness.
I mean, look at the deal for the MRTT. A needed aircraft, at an insane total cost.

Would that be the one that's £10.5 billion overbudget?

Snatch was never designed or intended to go to Iraq or Afghanistan but for Northern Ireland, and it was welcomed there.
I'd like to think that the current government would learn from all previous governments and barter for the vehicles, spares, maintenance and training from the off rather than the usual knee-jerk ordering the vehicle, realising nobody is trained, no spares supply and the deeper maintenance contracts don't exist and so spending three times as much - if not more - on correcting the initial mistake.
And that goes for ALL public money spending, not just the MoD but local government, hospitals, schools, etc... :D
...but that is just me and my madness :yep: it'll never happen.

Why not buy the Cat 1 MRAP (MRUV) or the M-ATV that's replacing the HMMWV? Then you are standardized with us. :03:

Why don't you buy from us for a change..
Wait a minute you do. BAe seems to own most of your defense companies except for GD, Boeing and Lockmart or so it would seem.

THat's the total tag, actually.
Although, not including battlefield protection mods. I mean, by all accounts the MRTT is a fine aircraft and a good fit for the RAF, but the PFI acquisition method is inflexible, and very costly if things go wrong.

Theres now a "discussion" about who will be paying for the new vehicle. Can the MOD ever procure anything without screwing it up:nope:
It's about time.
The company who designed the new vehicle is not too far away from me. I wonder if the need an unemployed draughtsman?
