Voters in Sweden are set to go to the polls, with the centre-right coalition expected to win re-election.

A far-right party is also tipped to win seats in parliament for the first time, on an anti-immigration ticket.

But analysts says a strong swing to the right could cost PM Fredrik Reinfeldt's Alliance for Sweden its majority.

The government is riding high in opinion polls against the Social-Democrats and their allies, following tax cuts and a strong recovery.

It's looking like SD will pick up 7,5% of the votes according to the polls.
They may very well esceed that.

When their election ad was not allowed on TV4, and people got to see how harmless it was (on danish TV), the party picked up alot of support.

The issue is welfare money for the elderly, or for immigrants.

Yep! There's too many young people that doesn't really know what they're voting for...I'm not one of those guys that say that "any party except for mine is idiotic" but there is alot of first time voters who votes for like, Piratpartiet, that has one issue to talk about...don't really see the point of that tbh:hmmm:

I don't vote, mostly because I'm not allowed.
I don't understand politicians
25% of them lie
50% try and fail
25% would do a good job but no one voted for 'em

Although it's a lot different over here so
I guess my opinion may only apply to a few people.

Alot of people would think what you think...

Last election over 1 million Swedes didn't vote. That's aprox. 10% of the entire population...don't know how many have the rights to vote though.

That still represents 80+ percent of the voters voting. How do you guys manage that? Please tell us how. In my country we are lucky if we break 50% voter turnout. And that only occurs every four years when we elect a President. Midterm elections we probably won't break 40%. :nope:

Midterm elections we probably won't break 40%. :nope: not everyone has the right voice in parliament, but only in municipal or county council elections, and that is because there is an approx. 17% of immigrants are not entitled to vote in parliament,Traditionally, the figure was high, while the Social Democrats had their greatness time, when the figure was up against the entire 90%,now we have another situation quite a few years ago to reverse, the current time the governing Conservative party is in government but in opposition consisting of Social Democrats and the Left + Green Party.

The leader of Sweden's opposition coalition concedes defeat as a non-socialist government headed for re-election to a second term for the first time in the country's history.Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt's centre-right four-party coalition -- consisting of the Moderates, the Liberals, the Christian Democrats and the Centre party -- appeared poised to hold on to power, judging by early and preliminary election results.

The leader of the red-green coalition, Mona Sahlin, told her supporters Sunday night they were not able to regain the trust of the voters.

"We have lost," she said, adding that the centre-right coalition also failed to get an outright majority.

Polling stations closed at 8 p.m. local time (2 p.m. ET). Two exit polls, by TV4/Novus and Swedish state television, showed the ruling coalition ahead.

I half expected Skybird to comment that film with remarks like "What a great commercial!" or something similar. For those who don't understand the language: The bad guys in this film by the nationalist party, are the women in bhurkas.

It was a very interesting election.
Without a clear majority, keepimg an eye on how the politicians handle the situation, could get even more interesting.

Yes, I don't think it matters where you stand politically, you'd have to agree that this was indeed a very interesting election, and a very close one too! 16 votes....16 votes could have changed it! Every vote counts I suppose...

Definitely it was an exciting voting, although it seems to have handled incorrectly in some places
