This time it pertains to the navigation map.
Do "contact" icons still appear like in stock SH3 with automatic map updates enabled?

The game is a whole new "ball game" with GWX3,and I am enjoying it immensely.:D

Yes, but they are severely reduced in frequency and range.

I would like thank everyone for all the help.
All questions cleared up,so far.

GWX is indeed fantastic!
I'm caught up in a raging thunderstorm on the second day of my patrol.
The weather on the first day was fair and calm.

I reside in southern Germany(Hessen),and the weather can change here at the drop of a hat, especially way up north on the Nordsee.
Very realistic!

Cheers!

Same here. From what Jimbuna has reccomended to me. In a heavy storm, travel underwater until about 25% battery life then run on the surface to recharge them. When underwater use your hydrophone man as he can 'see' farther than your watchmen can spot or their ships for that matter. Good hunting! I plan on playing later when I get back today!

In filthy weather I travel submerged at slow ahead; my submerged time is limited by air, not battery power. I then surface, run at 1/3 ahead to recharge, then repeat, rinse, etc until the weather clears up. It also helps if you upgrade to the newer batteries as they become available. By running at faster speeds you deplete your batteries faster, which means you have to spend more time surfaced to recharge and are thus deaf for longer periods and could potentially miss contacts. By leaving your battery until 25% left you put yourself in a position wherein you could potentially run out of power if hunted or you have to run at high speed submerged for some time to pursue a fast target. A couple of times I have nearly completely drained my battery keeping up with a fast freighter in filthy weather. I was able to finish the hunt because I started it with a full or nearly full battery.
