My fellow kaleuns. I've just finished playing Silent Hunter 4, and I must say I'm disappointed. I first tried to play it without updating, something which resulted in my crew suddenly starting to blurt out random numbers for some reason. :hmmm:

After the update, I managed to go on a patrol. Sadly half my crew were missing their eyes, judging by the people on the bridge and in the control room :/
The patrol lasted over a month, and ended without me sinking a single ship. In fact I failed to even spot one. Most exciting thing that happened was being attacked by Japanese aircraft that were attacking an American merchant.

Just "finished" my second patrol now. This one took me a bit closer to Japan, and I managed to find some ships to shoot at. Got in one hit on a merchant before I had to dive. I think the Japanese have developed some sort of super weapon, because they made me CTD.

I don't know, I just don't like the feel of SH4. SH3 just feels much more right to me. Though I like the crew management system, I'm not too crazy about the rest. So, I'm staying in the Atlantic.

I am with you on this. I find the GUI, especially the TDC, a bit awkward in SH4. In SH3 I can fly through torpedo launching. It just seems to take longer in SH4.

Also the distance to travel before you get to the warzone is a lot longer in SH4 than SH3 and, while realistic, takes away from some of the fun. Especially when your game playing time is limited.

I am currently in an SH4 career, but I will always keep SH3 on my computer. Sometimes it is good to come home. :yeah:

Yeah, even on those long XI patrols, you usually come across the occasional ship, or even convoy before you reach the patrol zone.

The GUI takes a bit to get used to, and is a bit more awkward and time consuming, but using the F2-F12 keys makes it a little better.

Speaking of launching torpedoes, in my first career after upgrading I was heading out of Pearl Harbour. Now, on SH3 numpad Enter takes you back down to TC 1. In SH4 it launches torpedoes. Long story short, before I knew what was going on, I had launched 4 torpedoes in the Pearl Harbour inlet

Stock SH3 is the same, GWX set the launch key as Ctrl+Enter :yep:
