Hi All,
According to the GWX3 final manual, one be awarded a maximum of 1500 renown points at tha start of a carreer.

While playing around a bit,I found that if I start a patrol in 1939 with the 7/13 flotilla in a type VIIBm in Konigsberg,I start with 1000 points.
But if I start with the 2nd Flotillain 1939 in a VIIB from Wilhelmshafen,I recieve only 500 points.

In both cases,no extra goodies were purchased or crew members changed. Is this normal?

At any rate,I decided to stick with the 7/13 Flotilla, type VIIB,1939,based in Konigsberg.

One more question:
Where would the best place to be with the 7/13th Flot. when the war starts on September first?

Thanks,
Chris

I'm sure a GWX guru will be along shortly to explain renown, but in the meantime don't shoot anything at anyone non-Polish until the 3rd or the whole war is your fault!

To get your 1500 renown you need to transfer to the first or second flotilla AFTER you receive a radio message from BdU on the fourth day of your first/shakedown patrol.

BTW lately I found something odd with renown.
In one patrol I sunk 55k tons and in the second I sunk 36k IIRC and I got the same renown for them although I had no damages whatsoever.

It was 1305 I think. It looked like it's the max one can receive though I remember getting more before. No mods except GWX modifying renown gain btw.

The best place to start for me is to transfer to the 2nd Flot. after I get the message to return to base on the 4th.

Renown is not awarded on a ton per ton basis. Some ships are more valuable than others even though they may be of lower tonnage. After a recent query about floating docks and artificial harbours [big tonnage] I found out that the amount of renown awarded for them is paltry and not worth a torpedo. There also does not seem to be a limit on the amount of renown you can earn on any given patrol. I've definitely received more than 1305 on some of my patrols.

Also the level of realism has an effect, the more real the more renown.

Me too that's the problem. In the first 55k patrol I sunk the aquitania it is valuable enough isn't it? In the second they were all small freighters, liberties and a tanker. So that was definitely not how it's meant to be. I will post my 4th patrol results because my 3rd one was ... unsuccessful everything in the coning tower destroyed by 2 b-25.

Two floating docks:

1 26,000 ton 25 renown
2 33,200 ton 30 renown

Also the level of realism has an effect, the more real the more renown.

Precisely, the higher the % of realism the higher the multiplyer for determining the renown.
