Microsoft has launched its latest bid to be computer users' default window on to the web.

The software giant has released the latest version of its popular web browser, Internet Explorer 9 (IE9), which it will help revive its fortunes in an increasingly competitive market.

Since 2003 the company has seen a 97% lead dwindle to 60% today.

It will compete with new versions of other popular browsers such as Mozilla's Firefox and Google's Chrome.

BTW,this belongs to PC/hardware,sorry for wrong posting!

Well, the release will be a beta, so we'll have to see if the security issues are worked out. I won't be donating my hard drive for that experiment.

I'll never use IE again. There's nothing MS could do to it to convince me otherwise excepting maybe getting rid of Active X. of course that'll never happen, so I'll never use it.

I think not, but I only use Firefox, exceptions are for updates of the OS

Ha if you're a XP user you don't even have to worry, IE9 seems not to work on windows XP :haha:

True, but this is intended to compliment W7.

True, but this is intended to compliment W7. The reason that you release a beta of IE is purely security-related

So IE is first on the GPU accelerated web browsing scene.

My bets are on Firefox 4 to steal the show tho. it is looking quite promising.
