View Full Version : Torpedo Spread
Is there a way to fire multiple torps with one command as a spread? I can't seem to find one.

No can do, mate. Couldn't be done on a Fleet boat, and can't be done in game.

Oh, they COULD have pressed multiple fire buttons at the same time if they wanted to be court martialed. But in both the American subs and German U-Boats torpedoes were always fired individually about three seconds apart at the very closest.
It was an error for SH3 to be made the way it was. The real German U-Boats didn't do that.

I find it works in a U-boat by selecting the salvo option, I don't know if it's realistic or not though :)

"Oh, they COULD have pressed multiple fire buttons at the same time..."
Christ, what a mess that would cause! Drop me off on that island before you go trying that...

From what I've read, whenever a WW2 sub fired a torpedo the crew had to work quickly to adjust the trim of the boat to avoid the boat broaching the surface bow first. If more than one torpedo was fired at the same time, this problem would have been exacerbated. So having a few seconds delay between fired torpedoes makes some sense.
If you are firing torpedoes that are capable of more than one speed setting, try "Forensicman101's Double Whammy" (link below). This works on the understanding that you are not firing at the target, but at the point where the target will be when your torpedoes arrive.
e.g. if your target is 500 yds away first fire a 31kt torpedo at it, count 9 seconds and then fire a 46kt torpedo at it. Provided your angle of incidence is 90 degrees the two torpedoes should arrive at the same time.
