I saw in a post someone had installed a "no searchlights" mod. I am very interested in obtaining this mod but cannot find it. I went through every page in the mods download section.'

I think I saw it in one of Sailor Steve's posts. I assume this mod removes the searchlights from merchant ships? I find it very annoying and probably ahistorical that merchantmen immediately turn on their searchlights. This seems counter to operational security and would advertise their position to the enemy.

Your comments appreciated.

Some Merchant ships have guns so they need the serach light to target enemy ships/planes/Uboats and this also helps the escorts find the enemy.

:salute:Thank you, Nutz!

I'm going to install this mod when I get back to Brest. I, too, feel it is unrealistic for merchantment to light themselves up when under attack. The last thing they want to do is show the enemy where they are. I think the escorts wouldn't want the convoy advertising itself to lurking U-boats and the escorts themselves would have a better idea of where to point them.

For real? Searchlights?
Not under normal operating conditions. Darken Ship means no light showing.
Star shells yes. Search lights no.

Just got back from patrol 3. Going to install it before I head out again.

Searchlight was a must for the enemy, but so was the situation was quite different for both warships and commercial vessels, but of course good for a submarine to be more invisible, without illumination
