Sorry people if this is an old post topic, I have a new 27 inch iMac and I was wondering if I can run SH5 on it through bootcamp or through Wine bearing in mind I have the OSX 10.6.4?

No idea, but as I recall people are doing it with SH4.

I'm thinking of doing the same with my iMac near the TV (nice cause it's dead quiet, only ever heard the fan go on once during a firmware update over a year ago (was part of it to test the fan, lol).

My gaming rig is noisy as hell.

Well, Ijust spent 3 hours on Wine to find out that it won't work and it's not supported by Wine at the mo (which they did say to be fair). Looks like its Sh4 instead.

I have SH5 installed on my MacBookPro and it works well (not speaking about the bugs of the game).

I created a separate partition for the PC using BootCamp, and installed Windows XP and then the bootcamp drivers - but I think you can also install Windows7: http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/

Good luck!

I'm playing on a MacbookPro 2010 i7 & Nvidia Gt330m (512Mb).
Runs smoothly with AAx4 and most of the sliders to Max.
However, apple underclock their graphic cards (sry chipset), so i overclocked it without too much heating :)
Cheers :salute:

P.S: Forgot to say: playing on the Bootcamp partition with Win7 x64...

Did you buy win7 or pick it up off an install disc for another machine?

Hi. I run SH3, 4 & 5 successfully on a Mac. SH3 and 5 won't work on my machine using VMware Fusion. SH4 does at the lowest graphics setting. When using Boot Camp, it's a different ballgame. I use Windows XP on a 2008 Mac Pro. Windows XP only detects 2 Gb of RAM out of 8 Gb and all SH games use I think no more than 2 of the 8 cores of the processor. That means that all SH games should run fine on iMacs from mid 2008 onwards.

Had it from my previous PC...

And yes, Bootcamp is the way to go for gaming...

SH5 runs well in wine, it's how I run it. You just need to run this command first:

winetricks vcrun2008 vcrun2005 d3dx9 dotnet20

It says that in the wine app db page for SH5 :-P

Happy hunting!

Hi all

Old thread I know but I'm interested to know which mods (if any) people are running with SH5 on Mac with Wine? I'd got a MacBook Pro 2008 with 8Gb Ram and it runs 'ok' with most graphics options scaled down. :D

I've tried the Wolves of Steel mega mod and followed the instructions carefully (including patching) but it would crash before the menu appeared. I've also tried several other combinations but had to strip things back to get some game time.

Currently I've found this works:

Dynamic Environment 2.9
Mighty fine crew
OH II (with grid square patch)

I would like to add the TDW multi UIs (or other UI mods) and also the FX mods and IRAI mods from the same author.

It's just such a long hard road and I seem to spend more time fiddling with JGSME and restarting than actually playing! If anyone has an ordered list of known good mods it would help me alot.

Cheers
Iain

I am using 27 inch late 2012 iMac. I have 2GB of video and that helps a lot.

I am running on Windows 10 on my iMac through bootcamp. I am using highest setting and I enjoy playing on it and very playable.

Happy hunting bro

Old thread but...

WineskinWinery

Wrapper -Wineskin - 2.9.0.7-rc1
Wine Version - WS9Wine2.22

Winetricks Needed - can be tricked prior to game install (debugging notes)

-d3dx9, dotnet20, vcrun2005 & vcrun2008 (Nothing but sub rendered)
-d3dcompiler_47 (no noticeable improvement, not 100% sure if needed)
-d3dcompiler_42 & d3dcompiler_43 (Appears to be 100% functional)
-vb6run - required for SH5_keymapper (100% functional)

JSGME works use custom.exe creator

Most mods work.

TDW_Generic Patcher and the few mega mods I tried work kinda a pain because the mis-installation of the mods can brake the game and you can also break the wrapper installing winetricks for the installers.
