Here's a video I took while doing practice takeoffs & landings Sunday. (And no, I wasn't trying to both fly and take the video at the same time... my instructor was at the controls).
If you can't access youtube at work, then save the link and watch the video at home.

I'm jealous Bill. It's gotta be a great experience learning to do this :)

I bet your instructor isn't as adept as you in working a video camera though :DL:03:

Now that's a language better understood by my two offspring
Oh, that's just lovely. Simulators can only do so much, Bill, you're a lucky bloke, you've been deep underwater, on the water, on the land and now up into the skies.
Next, the moon? :03:

Thanks for that. It brings back memories of hundreds of hours droning in the pattern hoping for an emergency to break the monotany. Fortunately, I did have a few of those moments, and weathered them as a good CFI should. But that was many, many years ago.

Awesome phone then - it even looks great in fullscreen mode.

Man that brought back some great memories.
I did not hear any radio transmissions though, Did I miss them?
Landing, the greatest feeling a pilot can have. :yeah:

Yes, there were radio transmissions. Unfortunately the iphone didn't pick them up.
Went up again today. Tried to do some solo pattern work but the winds picked up my first time around, and my landing was not, shall we say, pretty. Spent the rest of the hour with my instructor at my side.

1. Were you injured in the landing?
2. Was the aircraft still in flyable condition?
3. Was there any damage to the Airport?
If the answers to these questions are all "no" you had a great landing :yeah:
I remember one landing in a "sporty" cross wind when I had to verify number 2 ... It was a great landing. :yeah:

In less than 15 minutes, winds went from steady 5-knots... to 7-knots gusting to 14. Even so, I had a great landing today!

Just remember it's "line up and wait" instead of "position and hold" from next month ;)

If you do get the 'position and hold' message from ATC, advance beyond the threshold markings. They may make your A/C not visible by A/C on close final.
