I love computers.
I love to OC every possible thing on a computer.
I love to take a high demanding game, run it through the system at standard speed and see it struggle. Then work hard and long to push the system as hard as it can go. To get that last Hertz of performance out and run the game again. Love the feeling of "victory" when you go from 5 FPS to like 25 or even 45 FPS.
Because of this, I love big, resource hungry games! Crisys, Doom 3, BioShock, are some examples, just to name a few...the more shinny and new, the better. This is where things get turned up-side-down for Silent Hunter III with GWX has fully and completely taken over my gaming time.
This game is so addictive, so immersive, so...I need to learn more English to find words to truly describe it. The simple formula of game play is so elegant and effective: Your boat, your crew, and the open ocean. You are given the freedom that many of today’s popular titles lack. And the game is not just one-dimensional. The game play becomes progressively harder as time goes by.
You progressively go from being a Viking raider, charging in, guns a-blazing, terrorizing the seas to a sniper behind enemy lines. Where YOU are the hunted, YOU are in constant danger or discovery or even death.
I love this game, but I love this game because of the great work The Gray Wolfs have done for it. Their tireless work, dedication to the project, and their never ending search for perfection derived to the community a gem that I personally, will treasure for years to come.
There are only a few gaming moments where I have been truly touched or moved...I have been scared out of my chair while playing Doom 3 late at night, I have stared far too long at the animated strippers in Ducke Nukem 3D, and I still get that thrilling mix of excitement and fear of the unknown, as I change course and start my intercept course on a convoy.
Without a bunch of fancy graphical effects, this game has placed it self at the top of my playing list. To my opinion, this is the best example of content being more important then shinny graphics.
Thank you GW for a truly epic gaming experience.
