Wow, that was hilarious in a cringing sort of way. Looks like she just locked up.

And she again refused to take back her idiotic "Headless bodies" statement and during the questions afterward she played politics refusing to answer the question.

I wish her challenger all the best. I hope he defeats her so that state can start to recover from this period of extreme racism and idiocy.

She is a poor debater and to boot she doesn't have the stomach to retract her false statement. As someone said earlier, it made for cringeworthy viewing. :o

Here is the video following the debate where she refuses to answer the question: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ray_1ROtYdI&feature=related

On the other hand she said she accomplished everything she set out to, so she should be ready to step down and let someone else accomplish something new. She can retire with a perfect record.

All politicians have bad moments (Obama has had quite a few) and slip ups.Brewer is rather courageous to sign the law she did and take a stand against the dangerous issue of illegal immigration.Of course the open borders people whine and cry racism but she's doing well and obviously most people in her state think so.

:har:

You are kidding right?

She gets asked to go back on an obviously state damaging and incorrect statement (Headless bodies In AZ) And her first response is to attack labor. And ran away from reporters.

You call that politically courageous? Republicans are in trouble in they can't stare reality in the face.

Republicans are in trouble in they can't stare reality in the face.

the same could be said of Democrats.

this country is more divided than it probably ever has been since the civil war.... there is the reality both "sides" could stand to take a good, hard look at

fact remains that illegal immigration is a very serious issue, one that democrats dont seem to care about. Their solution is amnesty - which does not address the problem - it encourages MORE illegals to flood into this nation.

im all about immigration reform, but i also think more should be done to put a stop to illegal immigration... I fully support the proof of citizenship law, but thats just me.

Personally i think there should be exorbitant fines or even jail time for anyone caught doing business of any kind with illegal immigrants - renting them property, selling them goods... anything.

:yep:

Cut off the head and the body will die. You can't fault illegals for fulfilling a demand that we ourselves have created.

Why can't we have middle ground instead of extreme laws? I fully support spending federal treasure to build a slew of drones to support border patrol. Why? Because that is the ONLY way to seriously put a dent in it.

Another tho far less effective due to the politics is far tougher measures to make companies that hire them live in fear but pro-business groups will shut that down fast. With the bullcrap excuses like. "Who will pick the grapes?" Guess what AMERICANS will when they are forced to pay a proper wage to attract help.

What demand are you referring to exactly?

What demand are you referring to exactly? He's referring to how many of us (legal citizens) readily and gladly pay illegals to perform our menial tasks for us. I tend to agree with him, although I still think border control is the first step.

As an aside, do you ever tire of being a case-in-point: ready to dismiss any and all flaws of liberals and Democrats but unwavering in your minute-by-minute updates whenever a Republican goes wrong?

You have to treat the underlying disease and not just the symptoms. If you scare people away from hiring them, they will have no jobs and no reason to come here. Border control will fall into place and be much easier (read: less expensive) after that. As it is, you're just playing whack a mole....you'll never catch them all, no matter how many troops you put on the border.

I've said it before, it's hard to have sympathy for anyone in this debate. The illegals who sit there and get all hurt and upset and act genuinely shocked when we decide to actually do something about them, you know, breaking the law. But then it's hard to also have sympathy for people screaming about border fences and the national guard, and then turning around and hiring a crew of illegals to paint their house.

There's a lot of truth to that. And I hold equally responsible the political 'aficionados' that regard elections and cycles as little more than sporting events, each hoping that their 'team' wins the 'championship' and seeking to attain that end by resorting to arguments about the remote and arbitrary.

But more directly to your point, I find the duality of the political tiresome. As per voting, I have a choice between the representative of Party A that is in power and has screwed things up, or the representative of Party B that is not in power but screwed things up the last time. What kind of choice is that?

Bang! Well said. I know a lot of white people who decry illegals, but have a long history of hiring them to save a buck. It reminds me of slavery in the 19th century. Like John said, get serious about penalizing those who hire illegals, make them hurt. And set up a better system to allow documented migrant workers into the country. I'm all for Mexicans and South Americans coming over to work and provide for their families--but they should be legal in a system that tracks them and protects them from abuse, and most importantly, they should not be provided an easy and automatic path to citizenship. We are already at the tipping point where legal Hispanics and illegals, and short-sighted liberals are effectively presurring the govt to allow more in the country. This will change the political nature of this country, and the change in society will result.

I do agree. However, part of the incentive for leaving Mexico is Mexico itself, and therefore the motivation will not be completely eliminated through tough employment crackdowns. Hence the need for a secure border as well.

Otherwise, again - well said.

And set up a better system to allow documented migrant workers into the country. Now that garners a "Damn Skippy". It's too freakin' hard to legally immigrate here, and it's too frickin' easy to illegally do so.

What's wrong with that picture?
