I've got a question. Long story short I vanished for the 6 months because of work, and have only been playing again for about the last 2 weeks.
I have seen a few pictures of SHIII with new interior models and SH4/5 style water effects on the hull of the Uboat, and seeing as I am having trouble with SH5, I would like to know if/how these mods can be acquired
Mainly, I found this release thread
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=170203
I saw the Diesel and kitchen area's modeled and would love to be able to run this myself. But being gone for so long, I seem to have missed out on all this.
I and currently running GWX3.0 without any other changes, and would love to run some of these newer mods.....if possible

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=162631 was the main release of the new interior mod (with forward quarters/aft quarters/galley and diesel room) but it has also been included in some of Aces combi mods along with lightmaps etc and Luca released a version with an open hatch into the conning tower too.

Thanks Flakmonkey, I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction.
Would it be advisable to install the Open hatch mod as well?
Also, from reading the documentation, this mod will not work with a Type IX U-boat?
Ahh man too bad my ancient pc can't run this lol but what an awesome mod! Any idea if the electric engine room and torpedo compartments will be added?

There was some talk about it but, it went silent when so many people complained there computer wouldn't run the present version. There was also talk of a type IX version but, haven't heard anything in a while.

The open hatch mod is an integral part of the interiors mod so is already present for type 7s but if you want open hatches on other boats then you can install open hatch and there should be no issues. (if i remember right, install open hatch first then the interiors over the top)
And nope, the interiors were only for type 7s, the interior of a type 9 boat was quite different and so i would have had to remodel everything. I was working on the IX interiors but i ran out of steam...
As for the other compartemnts in the type7 (torpedo rooms etc) well they did get modelled but with so many folks suffering low framerates i abandoned them.
That is a real shame - as time goes by we will all have to upgrade our 'puters as the manufacturers/software people stop supporting what we have - and as soon as I do my next upgrade I'll be able to use and will want those rooms! I have damn near 2 GB of mods I've collected (all the BIG ones) that are just biding time .........

Well I hope someday you can finish the Type IX interior. As much as I love the Type VII, I've got more exposure to the Type IX. I grew up in Chicago, and have some very fond memories of U-505. In fact, I make it a habit to stop by the old girl every time I am in town, including two weeks from now when I am taking a friend who is also a bit of a U-Boat nut, but has yet to see a real one.
That and its really hard to get a Type VII across the Atlantic.....and long. I've already made two visits to Canada in the U-123 and the US has yet to enter the war.
At least with these sorts of addons, less upgrading is required to make them run. SH3 runs wonderfully, only lags when I have a massive oil fire when I sink a large tanker, SH5 runs slow all the time
