Its been confirmed that remains found in the Belanglo State Forest about an hour and a half south of Sydney are human and most likely female.

Lost of media speculation that this is another victim of the so called Backpacker Killer, Ivan Milat who was locked up for seven consecutive life sentences for the murders of seven hitchikers whose bodies were found dumped in the Belanglo State Forest.

It's a fair distance from the area where they found the other bodies. It is a little early to start saying that it could be him till more is know about how and when the victim died. It will be tough on all the families of missing women who want closure, but wanting their loved one back alive.

Agreed but the chances are pretty good Ivan is your man.

There are ten other "missing" people which he is a prime suspect due to him being in the area they went missing at the time, and another 20 where he can't be discounted.

are there wild animals in that park? thats a possibility for the culprit as well.
I heard first hand from a guy who was with a park ranger in the US and had a brown bear claw him right in the head out of the blue.

None likely to kill anyone. Mostly Kangaroos, Koala, Wombats, maybe a Dingo or a feral dog or cat. Most likely animal culprit would be a snake. Plenty of them about but they would also not likely bury the body after killing either.

Looks like the remains found are not old enough for Ivan Milat to have been the killer. http://www.smh.com.au/national/girls-top-the-strongest-clue-to-remains-found-in-belanglo-20100915-15crp.html
