View Full Version : Buses don't come in threes, they hunt in packs!

I was just browsing a certain well-known online store when I spotted this amusing contrast with an incorrect image showing for a book. The old expression goes that bad news, like buses, comes in threes. Now we have evidence that they were using more organised tactics!

Go ahead and laugh, but if the Germans had succeeded in getting enough of their cleverly disguised uboat-slash-omnibus units onto Britain's roadways, things might have turned out very badly indeed for the Allies.

The first few were intended for a variety of "search and destroy" missions in and around London. Sadly they all came ashore in Liverpool and were never seen or heard from again, and Doenitz was forced to cancel the operation entirely.

Oh, you're just whining because you don't have one.

Me, I've got my eyes on one of those DC-throwing cop cars.

With the Germans not realizing Enigma was cracked, and the constant position reports the buses had to send in and the additional information such as fares, passengers picked up/dropped off, coffee breaks(or should that be tea?), etc., it was a matter of time before they were hunted down. :D
