View Full Version : Defragmentor
I always wondered about the efficiency of the Windows defragment program as opposed to an outside, independently installed product. Dose the Windows defragmenter cut it?

Pretty basic tool, think it's a cut-down version of... PerfectDisk iirc. At least in XP. Think it does a decent enough job.
Auslogics (http://www.auslogics.com/en/software/disk-defrag/) has a decent freeware defragger, if you want more functionality.

I use Smart Defrag. It's 10 X's faster and has more options.
I use O&O Defrag 12 immediately after a Windows/drivers install, but it's a pretty serious defragger. The kind you'd leave on overnight. Probably a bit much for most people's purposes lol. I'll typically run the stock defragger if I'm just doing routine maintenance, then run O&O overnight once in awhile...
O&O defrag (12.5 Pro ed.) for me as well, i class it as free - being in IT i "borrowed" it from work!!

Another one for defraggler. I use Piriform's other program too, CCleaner, to clear crap out of PC and registry. :D

What Arklight said, Auslogics is spot on for a freebie, fast defragging.
Bitdefenders total security comes with a very good defrag, finished 4 drives in under 80min and they were rated as heavy. Thou Bit aint free
