Hello fellow kaleuns,

I was wondering why Type IID is still not available in Jan '40 in Flotilla 1 in GWX 3.0 Gold? The manual on page 164, "table 15: Summary of GWX U-boat types, availability, and flotilla availability" states that Type IID should be available to Flotilla 1 on (or after) Oct-39.

I am in Jan '40 where is the IID? My renown is 2998.00 - is it not enough?

Mini question --> Actually even if my renown were not enough, equipment screen should still list Type IID and if I double click on it, would not let me to upgrade due to renown shortage, right? (still should be listed there)

Thanks very much

I'm in 1.

EDIT: but will go anywhere for a IID (if have to).

the 1st flottila should be it, according to SH3 commander, with realistic uboat availabilty dates set, i can select it in 9th september, not sooner.

guess you have to wait =/

Cheers ReFaN.

I installed sh3cmdr and its cfg files also realistic U-Boat av is enabled. My setup must be bad then. Do you know which file should I edit to bring in IID?

If I do the edit in port, would it work or new campaign req'd?

Something is wrong.

With a big change like that, I think I'd restart the carreer.
Better for a IID fan in any event.

(That's just my view on it. Technicaly, you should be able to make the change in port.)

Historical Information.

The first IID to go on patrol was U138.
She left port on the 10. september 1940.

Maybe your install is NOT messed up, but corrected?

Hope this was useful.

That's the spirit. :salute:

Mine got thrashed in the channel, and they wouldn't let me get another one. Now I have to cruise this amusement fleet, all across the atlantic. There is too much hull, too much crew, too much deck gun, too much torps. It's just too god d*mn awful.
I'm awaiting a chance to get transfered to a fleet with some free Type IIs. Maybe we'll meet each other there.

Take care...

Thanks, I also noticed this now (posted below).

Too bad mate, hope you'll get a new II soon. Was it a IID or IIA? BTW, how did you survive? :hmmm:

I actually quite like the minimalistic approach of IIA, with limited resources to produce some 'good' results you have to be good too. After all I may go back to IIA, though I want to give IID a go first...

Replying my own question using the hint (or answer :D ) from Snestorm:

IID First Launch @ May 18, 1940
(src: http://www.uboataces.com/uboat-type-ii.shtml )
IID First 'Commision' @ same date above
(src: http://www.uboat.net/boats/u137.htm )

So I simply was 'ahead' of my time I guess... Will keep sinking merchants till the time comes. Thanks for inputs.

BTW, does this mean:

A. GWX 3.0 Gold Manual giving incorrect information?

OR

B. My installation of SH3 Cmdr's GWX CFG files + enabling availability dates option modified U-boat dates, thus incorrecting GWX -which otherwise was correct- ?

Well, I didn't acctually sink - but the hull integrity was awful, (for the second time). I thought it may be realistic to play that they didn't repair the boat, nor gave me a new Type II, since Type VII is the sh*t in '41.

The IIA's (never sailed with a IID) do have its charms, I have done great damage to coastal shipping in my IIA before, and in some ways, it is more forgiving then the larger boats as its quick to dive and hard for escorts to spot you. That, and you can have nice short patrols. I can take the IIA to some honey spots I would never dare take even a VII due to water conditions.
