Made it to 1940!

I know for many this is not too big of a deal, but I will take victories each step of the way. After the last three died in 1939, my latest has made it to 1940 without a crew loss (and only once minor (less then 1% damage)

Five Patrols, 24 ships sunk, for 92555 Tonnage, mostly merchants, but took out two Black Swans (god, I hate those ships, the bane of my existence!) in a nighttime convoy attack which also took out a large merchant in his latest patrol.

I've been taking the "small goals" approach as well.

My first goal was to make it to 1940.

Second goal was to get a Knight's Cross.

Now I've made it to the summer of 1940, and my goal is to survive long enough to make the transfer to a French port. I think my flotilla goes to Lorient in September, so I figure I need to finish the current patrol and make one more before I'm either transfered there in between patrols or get orders to return there instead of going back to Willy. :yeah:

Well, survived two more patrols in 1940, though I had a close call in the last one (was stalking shipping coming from the med into the Atlantic, was attacking a large french freighter when a french ASW trawler comes out of nowhere in a storm and dings up my hull, I do the smart thing and crashed dived. repaired the damage, then once the escort lost his will to fight (which was quick) went up to scope depth, finished off the crippled freighter, and went home.

Now up to 35 ships sunk for 156000 tons :yeah:

Also have a 1st class Iron Cross

New small steps are
Next goal, take part in Operation Weserubung
Get to the transfer to France
Get a new Sub.

A fun little Irony is that Commander puts the birth of my commander in Africa (Born in a former German colony of SW Africa, now Nambia I think)

So the Plastic horn is very approperate.
