I am on my 5th mission, finally with good mods, but I am thinking I should just restart.. It seems WAAYYYYY to easy.. Never any DD's after me, I never once was depth charged!

I am thinking of restarting and doing level HARD..

But I want to make sure that TDC is still auto as its hard for me to do on my own.. Is this possible? does it make a difference?

THANKS

You can have auto TDC on Difficult settings just when you're in port you can change your options. Manual TDC is a drag for me personally since I'm not quick enough to compute. I suggest you try out mods that make AI much harder to combat.

What you need to realise is that the 'Easy', 'Medium', and so forth, have no impact on the difficulty of the game (in my opinion). Merely, they just check off more or less of the realism options (such as fuel, battery, CO2, Manual TDC, Duds, etc).

To change the difficulty of the game you need to get some mods that make the AI much harder (IRAI comes to mind) as well as improves their sensors and makes yours more realistic (UHS and Elite Campaign..).

Cheers,

Krauter

I would also try mods that make the AI harder IRAI is a good mod.

If you wanna restart your campaign after the very mission mission, while your in port, you can hit the escape button and change your gameplay settings there.

I have every checked except for external camera, gotta have those nice ss's.

Ok well then I guess I don't need to restart my campaign..

What is this mod you are talking about? do you all use it? is it good?

Agreed! This mod will make you sweat, but it brings much more realistic AI into the game! The convoys turn away when the first torpedoes hit, some DDs will continue their escort duties while others will go chasing after you, the sub AI works (still can't call a wolfpack attack but if a wolfpack encounters a convoy, the AI subs will actually attack it and fire their torps), etc.... A BEAUTY!!!

Hi, New to this game and am installing mods accordingly.
I cant seem to find the actual file to download.
I have gone through the thread and cant see a link to the IRAI file.
Can someone please provide me with a link, or tell me where to look.
Sure would appreciate it.
Thanks

a word of caution: IRAI is tough. If you're a beginner then I recommend adjusting the difficulty of the mod down from 1.0 in the init.AIX file. Try setting them to 0.5 and see how you like it.

I second that caution. I just installed IRAI and I wasn't expecting that much of a difference but wow. It makes the game much more realistic and in turn more fun.

Well, IRAI teaches to never be spotted. WHo knows - maybe this is the most important part of what all the AI tweaking mods do - make you play more realistically, without Geronimo attacks and such. :88)

Quick question about IRAI:

Does the AI progress as the war progresses or does it give a beatdown from the start?

Thanks

I didn't check it, but I'm almost sure that as war progresses the crew value grows from Roookie through Experienced to Veteran/Expert (and some other stages), just as it was in SH3.
