Thank you Takeda for ending the Abortion that the '
maintain depth' thread became.

Obviously we cannot discuss or debate facts with some people, but I thank Sailor Steve, Karl Koch, 4Para and robbo for attempting to remain true to debating spirit and keeping their character intact.

I am sorry for any insults I may have posted throughout the thread but as Nisgeis pointed out:

If true, it has an interesting implication about the person who wins the argument. Quite what that says about someone who claims to be the winner, I'm not sure

I am sorry to all that had to witness me decending to that level. Hopefully I can maintain better composure in future arguments and debates.

Cheers,

Didnt mean to, if fireworks happen again I'll ask the Management to close the thread. I just wanted to thank the Moderators for playing an active part in discussion and trying to keep them civil.

There's an old saying that you can't win an argument with an ignorant person. Think about it for a bit and you will see the wisdom of this statement and stay out of such mental traps.

Socrates said it well with his famous quote, "He who knows not and knows not that he knows not...".

KrauterCome about man, it was a skirmish, I do so admire your honesty, well said. However i observe i did not get a mention?? :O: and as of late have identified you as a culprit to aid unwanted, personal may i add, verbal insults to my direction. Did I attack you? I hope you sir have viewed my conduct when on the ropes, and have since learned composure as a gentleman. :yep: Permit me to remark, prove correct with your above statement. Manners and conduct is good, under attack priceless. :salute: It takes a good man to admit, still cheer up, come aboard and as i have said many times before, A toast "to men whom not affraid to speak thier minds" within limitations of course. :03: Good Day

If everyone would keep it that way, i don't believe we would have traveled to the moon and back. Thats the sad part on this.

For the native speakers among us: was that the right tense? :hmmm:

Don't know, I prefer Rumsfeld, "There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we now know we don’t know. But there are also unknown unknowns. These are things we do not know we don’t know."

Oh, too bad, it was fun watching that poor fellow with his pressures and blurb showing his self-confidence filling his lack of knowledge. Give him a couple of years to get older, and learn basic physics... hydrostatics is not a difficult topic, and can even be "interesting" when it comes to Bernoulli's principle affecting two adjacent mass bodies... like two ships passing each other too closely, or a person to close to a driving train or truck.

Socrates said it well with his famous quote, "He who knows not and knows not that he knows not...".

It should be like this:

"I know that I know nothing" ("Viem, že nič neviem") in Slovak language :P

I still remember it since my school days (about 15 years ago).

Googled a bit scrapsers phrase and found this

http://www.xenodochy.org/ex/quotes/knowsnot.html

He who knows not, and knows not that he knows not, is a fool - shun him. :haha:

Jeez......

I just took a quick look (I don't want to spend the time to read all that).

But it looks almost as silly as a political debate. :DL

:hmmm: "So what thread was locked?" I asked myself.

A quick scroll down. "ahhh, a thread about depth, how on earth did THAT erupt into drama?" I wondered.

Clicking on the thread, i pondered, "What kind of drama could possibly transpire over this subject to have become a flaming thread?"

So i backed up, started where I had posted, and scrolled through.

"Hmmmm, look at that user name, ahh yes, he's a bit of an Adam Henry", i said to myself. "Lets scroll down and see how bad this got".

*click*.. "hmmm, ummm", i said.

*click*.. "ummm, hmmm, there he is again.", I uttered.

*click*.. "Yup, wow, what a chip on the shoulder, and he's already proclaiming some sort of 'victory', Geez.", I observed.

*click*. "Oh good god, How much of this can i read?" I pondered. I then found myself uttering, "figures this guy is at the center of all of this."

*click* /facepalm

Amazing.

I am pretty sure i realized what you said with the quote before. :)
However, i was unable to say that sentence. English is not my native language, so please bear that in mind when i say it is a tongue-twister (for me). :)

then simply send the modderator a PM to thank him rather then start a thread like this which is going to be an irresistable temptation for the same arguement to continue

so with that said you have done what you wanted and i think its best to close this thread so we all move on without further comment on a discussion that has been effectively put to rest.
