As I understand it this event was caused by red fungal spores and dust being swept high into the atmosphere, getting caught up in moist air of the monsoon and falling as red rain.

Red rain from dust is a common occurrence in Australia and even stranger types of rain have been recorded in many places over the world, including fish and frogs.

As for the India's red rain it's some sort of germ or bacteria which has no DNA that was concluded out of this world by that nature. It's a possible first hand evidence of out of this world life form. The germ multiply as other living things and could even live in 600 degree farenheit environment

I believe that it rains fishes from waterborne tornadoes. they are picked out of the water and they remain in the air (I assume on some wild ballistic trajectory) where they come down as rain...as for frogs I think the same thing just in a different area. I dunno...

Yea that came across my mind as well when I heard the fishes were not that tiny small at all. Must have been tornadoes that swept an ocean.

The extraterrestrial origin of these cells currently is just a hypothesis that is not tested so far (how to do that?!), nor proven. To conclude that it must be e.t. because no DNA can be found in them, bases on a necessary assumption that we know for sure that all celluar lifeforms on Earth necessarily must follow the pattern we have established in our definition of "life". But over the past years and decades we have found single-cellular lifeforms in places where just short time before we would have categorically rules out that life could exist, whether the critical factors are pressure, temperature, or toxic agents.

So, lets not go ballistic over these "extraterrestrial" cells. So far we only know that we do not know. If we could have explained the plagues that came over the Egyptians with red algas forming the beginning of the chain reaction, maybe we could explain this phenomenon as well sooner or later. Already going back to exotic explanations like e.t.-stuff is a bit too early, for my taste. if these particles are cells indeed, for the time being I stick with the assumption that they nevertheless are of terrestrial origin. Maybe an isolated cave deep inside the earth's crust that served as an isolated refugium for these cells, but got opened by geologic activity. Yes, that also is a hypothesis only - but currently not better or worse a hypothesis than to assume it is of extraterrestrial origin.

Theory goes that a tornadoe sucks them out of a pond or bog lifts them high into the sky where they whirl around a bit and then later fall with the rain.

Yea the fact is they DON'T KNOW where the cells came from. I'm fully aware that they don't know where the cells came from but the fact that it has got no DNA got me excited even if it turned out to be terrestrial. Look Mom Look Mom NO DNA and it's a living thing. How cool!
