You know I think the feds should demand that the farmers should set up a sludge fund in preperations for reperations... :03:
Seriously though that many eggs are going to affect food prices across the board. Think about all the products that contain egg.

We are talking about quite a lot of money that this costs, the whole chain from producer to consumer and any tort claim purely legal manner,in the end it becomes golden eggs,ll probably be tired and be a farmer

You think the farmers should shell out money if their eggs are bad?

This is why its very important to cook you food to the proper temperature. This is the proper temperatures to cook food (at least in NYS)

Also don't think that washing the egg shell will protect you, the egg shell is porous, bacteria can get though and in to the yoke.

These eggs could have been contaminated at the processing plant. The farmers might not have had anything to do with it. :yep:
but say if someone deliberately infected eggs to make up prices on the market,or any employee has lost her job that she or he has eaten too many eggs or because you are allergic

You're correct, washing the shell won't help. At least that's what they're advising us here.

Albertsons, Farm Fresh, James Farms, Glenview, Mountain Dairy, Ralphs, Boomsma, Lund, Kemps and Pacific Coast. Eggs are packed in varying sizes of cartons (6-egg cartons, dozen egg cartons, 18-egg cartons, and loose eggs for institutional use and repackaging) with Julian dates ranging from 136 to 229 and plant numbers 1720 and 1942. Dates and codes can be found stamped on the end of the egg carton or printed on the case label. The plant number begins with the letter P and then the number. The Julian date follows the plant number, for example: P-1720 223."

Your Questions,
With the egg recall reaching 380 million and still spreading from state to state, Americans are paying special attention to a microscopic invader that can wreak havoc on the human body: Salmonella.
Its rare to see a recall of this magnitude in the United States, but when we do, consumers are reminded that food-borne illnesses are more common than we think and we have to pay special attention to the way our meals are handled and prepared.
Ive been getting a lot of e-mails about this recall, so I decided to answer some of your questions.

"We are undertaking this additional recall to further protect the safety of consumers -- this voluntary measure is consistent with our commitment to egg safety, and it is our responsibility," the company said in its statement. The company initially recalled 228 million eggs.
Cases of Salmonella enteritidis were first reported in California, Colorado and Minnesota, but the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Food and Drug Administration and state health officials are now investigating salmonella outbreaks in Arizona, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, North Carolina, Nevada, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Texas.

(CNN) -- The number of eggs recalled in a nationwide salmonella scare has grown to more than half a billion.
Iowa egg producer Hillandale Farms of Iowa is voluntarily recalling some 170.4 million eggs distributed to stores and companies that service, or are located in, 14 states, a spokeswoman at the Egg Safety Center said on Friday.

Washington (CNN) -- The recall of more than half a billion eggs over the past two weeks is the "largest such egg recall in recent history" and the Food and Drug Administration "may need to continue with smaller subrecalls," FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg said on CNN's "American Morning" on Monday.
"We have a very complicated network of food distribution in this country," Hamburg said. "You start with a couple of farms in Iowa and you can get nationwide exposure."

I tossed out my little carton of 6 eggs even though they weren't on the recall list. $0.65 is not a lot to pay for peace of mind and to head off the possibility that my eggs would be added to the recall list. I didn't have time to egg-xamine the facility code to make sure I didn't end up with egg on my face.

Just do scrambled eggs and make sure the entire thing gets HOT and you are fine. There is no reason to throw away non recalled eggs. Doing so and refusing to buy more will mean massive drops for small egg producers.

WASHINGTON Food and Drug Administration officials said Monday that there is no evidence a massive outbreak of salmonella in eggs has spread beyond two Iowa farms, though a team of investigators is still trying to figure out what caused it.
FDA officials said they do not expect the number of eggs recalled 550 million to grow

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. The Iowa hens at the heart of a massive recall are still laying eggs that could end up on a table near you.
And food safety experts say that's OK. The eggs will first be pasteurized to rid them of any salmonella. Then they can be sold as liquid eggs or added to other products.

Feed given to hens - used at both Wright County Egg and Hillandale Farms - is one likely source of contamination that led to a nationwide salmonella outbreak, federal officials said Thursday.
The feed and some feed ingredients are believed to have been contaminated and are the source of the salmonella, U.S. Food and Drug Administration officials said in a conference call.

WASHINGTON The Food and Drug Administration is planning to inspect all of the country's largest egg farms before the end of next year following the massive recall of tainted eggs linked to a salmonella outbreak that has sickened as many as 1,500 people.
An Obama administration official says inspectors will visit about 600 large egg farms that produce 80 percent of the nation's eggs. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the plan has not yet been announced. This will be the first government effort to inspect large egg farms, as most of them have gone largely uninspected for decades.
