View Full Version : battle ship deck guns
Hello again,
I have installed SH3 + 1.4b + no cd + GWX3. Everything works fine except that when I leave Wilhelmhaven harbor, the big battle ship waiting outside has no deck guns at all... I tried it with and without Mods, but there is no difference. Is it because it's not yet war time, or do I something wrong with my install?:hmmm:
Thanks to all of you and good hunting:arrgh!:
Had not noticed this, but neither Bismarck nor Tirpitz were completed and maybe this is reflected in what you saw.:hmmm::salute:

Is this all that's work, or are there any more other glitvhes you may have incountered...
As far as I've seen and been, It's the only problem I've noticed...:shifty:
Rconch: are you sure of that?

The guns will appear when the historical date comes around for the ship to be completed.:yep:

The Bismarck wasn't completed and commissioned until Aug 1940. Sea trials and refits continued until May 1941.
The Tirpitz was completed and commissioned in Feb 1941 with trials continuing until early 1942.
Both ships had been launched before the start of the war, but neither would've been fully fitted for action at that time (or for some time thereafter). :DL

The Tirpitz is indeed docked at Willy at the beginning of the war. I've passed her many a time on my way in and out. :yep:
But she'll be operational by the spring of 1942 when she's sent to Norway to serve as a potential threat against Allied shipping in the Arctic.
Holly cow!!
Respect to the game timetable précision and to all of you for answering so fast and so precisely.:yeah::yeah:
Have fun and good hunting:arrgh!:

Of course, should know that as I'm currently reading "Arctic Convoys 1941-1945"

Actually I can't remember when she was sent out... trials/refits/etc were all finished in January, I think, so may have been late winter. But she was definitely up there by the spring of '42.

If you read the GWX manual you'll see why the Tirpitz has no main guns.

Better still...look at the relevant section here:

Hello, I have to confess that I did read the manual straight to the end, and I beg your pardon for that mistake:oops:
Just like you frau Kaleun, every time I come in here, I learn something new and that makes me think that SH3 is not only a game anymore.:know:
Jim, for sure I'm impressed with GWX great work.:yeah::yeah: and I have not enough thanks for all the people who have given their time to improve that wonderful game.:salute:
I must admit that I don't know too much about the 3.0 version as I installed it some days ago.:DL
But the little I have already seen impressed me again.
I had hard time to resolve some conflicts between different mods:damn:, but yesterday evening, finally everything worked fine.:|\\
Now I'm ready for the long winter days (hopefully still a long way to go...:))
and I promise you, I will read the entire GWX3.0 manual!:03::up:
Good hunting to all of you
In GWX I really love how they completed the Graf Zepplin in game to its intended design. Shame it never got completed, though probably would've suffered like the Bismark. Seems that the surface fleet when operational inflicted severe damage enough to make them top priority no matter what size. Had it ever made it to Brest for repairs and come out with the other two battle cruisers the ensuing battle probably would've been a rematch of Jutland and the last of the major battleship fights of the war (only other one besides Bismark being Battle of the Coral Sea).
