View Full Version : Ground Transportation during the meet
I'm trying to figure out if we have to rent a van.
Please sound off whether you intend on coming in through Boston or heading straight to Waterford and also whether you intend on renting your own transportation or prefer we rent a 12 passenger van.

I will either be driving myself or I will go with Ivank, I'll be in New Haven so I will probably go straight to Waterford.
I will probably be driving the Golf if I drive myself, so I'll have room to haul 3 adventurous souls.
Well after being picked up by you or someone else from the train station, I'll ride with whomever has room :hmmm:
Chad, I can pick you up, I have an 8 seater, minus me and maybe SH427, so 6 more can fit. If you tell me where you will be, I may be able to help you.

If you want to head to my place i'm sure I can find 6 people to fill those seats, well, Chad and 5 others. :DL
It means that you'd be driving right past where we'll be staying in Waterford, but if you're willing to add an hour to an already long drive it'd probably save us from having to rent a van to haul folks around during the meet.
I can drive anywhere, provided I have fuel.
What town would you and these 'others' be in?
I do not mind driving some where, but I would prefer not to go to one town here, then another there, and another somewhere else. Like if you could set up a meeting place for you and the 'others' that would be great for me

BTW, on Long Island it take $76.00 to fill her up, and I get 365.4 miles to the tank

It looks like August will be meeting me, so you'd better reserve a seat for me. Chipping in for gas will be no problem.

man, I did this all last summer. phone tag, coordinating money to go places in my junky little AMC Eagle.
now I am in the loop again, on an epic scale.
I call shotgun!:D

Orient Point - New London by ferry, pick up Chad, then up to August's house.

Reminds me of a great line from the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles TV show, with with Lena Heady of 300 fame as Sarah Connor and Summer Glau from Firefly as the fetching young terminator:

I'm pretty sure the train station he's talking about is the local MBTA commuter rail station in South Attleboro which he'd have to take after flying into Boston. If I'm going to be up in Beantown anyways i'll take care of getting him to my place.
I'm just worried that I won't have enough transportation to get everyone from my place to Waterford so if you could help out with that i'd really appreciate it.

I'm currently out of town now, while all my info is at home. I will clear this up by Sunday or Mondayen I do get home. Sorry for confusion!

The reason for the switch in plans is that we talked I was still thinking there was going to be 30-40 people attending the meet instead of the 10-15 actually coming. Since we weren't going to base out of Boston on the first night because of the Sonalysts tour the next day the problem of what to do with 35 people while waiting for the last 5 to arrive seemed best solved by collecting folks at my place. Those that could get out of the city on their own made it easier for me to concentrate on those who did have to be met at the airport.
However now that we have a more complete picture of who is coming and how they're getting here it becomes doable for me to meet you five or six guys at the airport and escort you all back to my place personally which will be far more fun.
Once we get to Rehoboth we'll meet up with Ivank and Sledgehammer, split up between the two vehicles (Sorry Rose has shotgun in my rig :DL ) and head down to Waterford where we'll hook up with Subnuts and the rest of the gang.
