SH3 Commander working with GWX 3.0???

well i have read most of the manual of GWX and it says it works with SH3Commander and i have used the specified options of SH3Com that GWX tells me to but the GWX manual isn't too in depth about using both of these mods together. so is there any more info anyone could spare. i try to mod SH3 to be as authentic and real as possible if that helps anyone. i don't have any problems or crashes with GWX itself but it does act funny with both of them running. even if i role back sh3com the files it modified still exist even going into your "roaming" or "virtual memory" files and delete all traces of it and copy the files back from the original GWX3.0. so i'll be reinstalling sh3 and GWX again so i can have a clean version. also going to ST.Nazrie dock... is that a normal dock transfer for GWX or SH3Com???:salute:

Well, I've used SH3Commander and GWX3.0 together for the entire time I've had SH3, and had exactly zero problems with them working together, so not entirely sure what could be causing your problems, sorry :(

SH3 Commander requires a special set of files to work properly with GWX. Look inside the mod folders that come with GWX and you should see a readme file that tells you how to install them.

Strange. I've been using GWX 3 and Commander the entire time and it works like a charm. Are you sure you installed Commander properly? There is an easy installer somewhere in the downloads section that does the work of transferring all the files for GWX compatibility. I suggest you get that and do a proper install if you haven't already.

Have you installed the GWX3.0CFG for SH3Commander file?

When you've d/l it right click on it and choose rename option, add '.exe' to the end and a paw print icon should appear.

You are now good to go/add it.

Well I used to have a strange problem where I would install SH3 clean, then add GWX3 then SH3 commander and the GWX Commander config files. Then when I would go to start up I would sometimes get just a black screen (and 100% load on the CPU) but I when tried on the 980x it just loaded as it should so maybe it was just the old sempron I was using

Personally I load it after GWX and SH3Commander have been installed.

sweet. sounds great. I'll run some test trials for the next couple of days and see how it runs. now it says in the SH3Com read-me that you have to exit and reload sh3com every time you go into port to your office screen. do you really have to do that?

Yes, as SH3 Commander needs access outside of the game to retrospectively update your patrol log. As well, it is the only way you can manage your crew, choose your own patrol zone, randomize your retirement, if selected, etc. Always exit the game once you have finished a patrol, and only tinker with your crew and boat immediately before you sail out again. I always use SH3 Commander to launch the game. I'm not sure what could happen if I don't, but I'm not willing to take the chance.

The above implies that you are running Vista or Win7. If so, then don't install SH3 or SH3Cmdr into your Program Files folder.

If you want the correct date-based files to appear, then yes. If you don't and choose just to play on, then the files that SH3Cmdr copied the last time it was run remain, meaning that they could be many "game months" out of date. It's all clearly explained in the User Guide. ;)

3.2 is the latest version. Follow SS's link, it should get you there.

That's good to hear. A personal opinion from me, never play SH3 without Cmdr. :D
