Hi all,

crew members have renown, too.
What does it do, and does it ever change?

Best regards, cemar

They don't 'have' renown - it shows what they cost you if you want to shanghai them.

A Stabsbootsmann costs you 200 renown and it shows in his screen as long as he is aboard your U-Boot.

It doesn't change for the individual sailor.

I see, it's like a price tag - thanks!

I've always thought that a fair tradeoff would be a renown credit when you "return" him to the pool. As well, I feel you should get some credit for training up a zero renown crewman when you return him to BdU for a new tour on another sub.

Depending on how well you perform your crewmen gain experience and stamina which helps them perform better in future patrols.

The renown is supposed to represent how much BdU likes you. You have to spend a little 'pull' to get the people you want, and no one ever 'lets people go'. They are transferred without question, unless you spend some more to keep them.

Try SH3 Commander. It transfers people out automatically, and sometimes transfers in crewmen who already have skills and rank.

I do use it; isn't it a great utility? I think the time has come for me to enact that particular option. It's hard to let good men go, but that's how it happened in real life.

I have noticed on my second career, starting in June 1940 that a few of my crewmen have medals and credit for previous patrols. I think it's only fair that I allow some of my men to move on to other boats.
