Black screen of death?

OK, so here is the scoop.

I keep have a problem where I'll be walking around my sub, or the port, and randomly, the screen goes mostly black. The interface is still there, I can still access the map view to plot a course, but when I enter 1st person or exterior mode, I cannot see anything

I am updating my drivers, and I turned shadows back on (I read via the search function that would fix it) however still no luck. I just finished my 1st patrol as Captain, and now I cannot walk over my commanding officer to get my next mission.

Also, does anyone know why planes in 1939 just fly right past me? I mean, I stayed surfaced, got buzzed by about 2 dozen plans, and nothing happened. Either the planes are completely retarded, or something is wrong with the Uboat Killer AI mod I installed (maybe I did something wrong when installing?)

I've never heard of this before to be honest, have you tried disabling all your mods then installing them back one by one to see if there is a problem there?

Also you didn't post your specs so I can only assume that you meet the requirements. It might be worth your while contacting UBI tech support, maybe they can shed some light on it.

I'm having a similar problem, when i load the game the screen is black and it can't actually load, i started campaign and I finished turtoria and tge game work properly, I stared new mission, patrol around british coast and i went on that patrol and still everything was ok, I saved the game and now I can't load it, can someone help me?

Turn the debugger on by going into sh5 folder in my documents . Look for the data\cfg\main file .
Change it so it looks like this .

Modding=Yes
;MenuEditor=Yes
DebugScripts=Yes
When the screen goes black hit ctrl alt delete and see if there is a debug on the desktop . If so what does it say . Keep hitting the space bar to go thru the debugs and the game should load after the last one .
Are you using the latest TDW UI mod ?
What graphics card are you using ?

there's no debug on the descop, i opened the main file and line were as you said, i did't instaled any mods, i just instaled patch 1.2 and i add storage for torpedos in the gobin editor, i know that this black screen i conected wiht it,
i have NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 1024mb
before editing the storage it work properely including loading the game but i wanted to have more torpedos so i found how to do it on this forum and i don't if i did sth wrong, i downloaded once some mode for torpedos storage i it also dint work

I always make a copy of the folder i intend to alter so i can replace the one i screw up . Better than reinstalling .
