I posted the article first because some of the film footage is a bit harsh in places.

BBCiplayer - Madness In The Fast Lane, and what happened afterwards (I'm just watching this now)

In 2008, BBC cameras filmed two Swedish sisters throwing themselves into traffic on the M6. When it was shown on BBC One, nearly 7 million viewers were glued to their screens, and millions more watched it later on YouTube.

The footage was shocking. One previewer wrote “On no account miss this documentary. It opens with what is perhaps the most extraordinary footage I’ve seen on TV”.

But this amazing footage was only part of an even more incredible story, one which could not be told at the time for legal reasons.

Now, two years later, this documentary reveals the full story of the hours just before the cameras captured that motorway footage, and the even more chilling story of what happened over next 72 hours, which left one of the sisters fleeing the scene of a crime, after she had stabbed a man through the chest.

Those who were at the centre of this fascinating legal case, including the police and Crown prosecution service, reveal the complex issues involved in both bringing charges and taking this disturbing case to trial.

A leading criminal psychiatrist, Dr. Nigel Eastman, explains the difficulties the judicial system has in achieving justice and deciding punishment when dealing with mental illness. He explains the possible causes of the womens’ behaviour, and why, in his view, it could happen again.

Worth a view, fascinating and disturbing so far.

Wow! That's gotta be close to the whackiest video I've ever seen. I was reading the comments to see what they may have been high on. PCP? Check out the comments. There's one from a couple months ago:

"The second woman murdered a man a couple of days later then hit herself on the head with a hammer and jumped off a bridge. Turns out they weren't high but delusional. Pretty weird."

Delusional? That doesn't explain her unbelievable strength. Checked it out on google and came up with this:

Lots to read about the incident and seems they where delusional. There was a documentary made about this as well. Be great to see that. Could they make a movie weirder then this?

Delusional? That doesn't explain her unbelievable strength.

In my experience many mental/emotional states can greatly affect personal strength. Determination and anger will lift objects that years of going to the gym will struggle to. There are also many ways of restraining people that prevent them from being able to use their strength to resist you, unfortunately those police officers are not quick enough to realise what they are dealing with (not their fault really), by the time she is out of control and fighting as if for her life it is inevitable that restraining her from then on will be more difficult.

Identical twins are spooky anyway, of the ones I've known, the best sort are those that hate each other with a vengeance - the good and evil ones, you know? the ones that are close creep me out finishing each others sentences or saying exactly the same thing at the same etc...

It is a real shame that she/they were not sectioned immediately and I can only wander why, 3x attempted suicide would seem enough of a reason for me. So then a poor soul had to die to confirm the poor girls madness, very, very sad.

Well, I finished reading the linked site I posted. Some examples of what you say are mentioned. Some kooky responses by others but a lot of info provided by the brother of the murder victim. The twins names are Ursula & Sabina. Sabina is the one convicted of manslaughter and received 5 years. The victims brother(listed as Spokenwords) asks some very good questions about how this case was handled:

I watched the footage when the original program broadcast and it was a real shock then that anyone could do that, let alone two people several times. I had no idea about what followed.:nope:

Finished the documentary. The reason the 3 doctors gave Sabina a clean bill of health sanity wise is none of them where shown the video of their M6 escapades. What the heck? If a blood test cleared the one sister(Ursula) of having drugs or alcohol in her system, surely, one must suspect some kind of mental disorder and seeing the video would surely have confirmed that. Pretty disturbing situation to say the least.

Same but I already knew what followed and must admit to feeling a tad frustrated that the WHOLE story couldn't be released at the time.

I like close twins that finish the sentence. I was with a pair once when, One said to me " Do you want " and the other said to me " To do it again ". :D

I saw this on the Motorway cops show here in Australia and was shocked by it. I felt more sorry for the police and the public who caught up in it.

What happened after was never mentioned, other than what was publicly stated at the end of the program (one charged for assault on police and the other in hospital)

I can't blame the police for what happened, as they have little say in what happens to people they arrest. Even if they did commit (section) her, there is such a lack of beds (here in Australia and I'm sure else where) that they wouldn't have anywhere to place her.

My sympathy for the next of kin of the dead man.

Sorry to bump this thread, but they will be showing this story on 60 minutes here in Australia. It will show the footage, as well as talk about what happened afterward.

I don't even dare to watch the footage :dead:

One mentally ill sister maybe but both at the same time?!

There's something that doesn't add up.

Well I have my suspicion.
