How to enable the 4.09 patch?

So I've finally figured out how to play online with IL-2 Sturmovik (lol, a friend showed me after he got the game a few days ago) but when I tried to join a game it said I needed the 4.09 patch. I downloaded this but cannot figure out how to get it to work. Any help?

Have you got the other patches leading up to it...4.08 I think, you need that and then install 4.09 on top.

Install IL-2 1946.

Download and install 4.08m.

Download and install 4.09m.

Pretty simple.

Run it, point it to the IL-2 directory, then install?

Might need to extract it from a RAR file first, depending on where you downloaded it, I think.

Get WinRAR or something and extract it.

Don't forget to install 4.08m first.
