What is the largest explosion you've seen in game, any ship or nation?

Hmmmmm, let me see now. Collectively, I'd have to say that the largest explosions I've ever seen, occurred while playing TMOwtw. Some with ignition/detonation blasts that were literally blinding. I've seen some good ones too in RFB but, not like the ones in TMO. Shoot, I hope I don't have to scroll through all my SS. I take way too many SS.:03:

If you ever get a chance and run across a NC BB, save and sink it....The first explosion is a biggy, then it sinks like a brick in a few seconds.

I think im in a Repeat mission glitch, and there is always the same two taskforce's a few NMs from Pearl when i leave. There might be a NC around. That, and a Mk48 ADCAP might do some pretty boom boom.

Long while back I set up for a starboard sonar O'kane, in the fog, at night. It took awhile to find her. But, I knew she was there due to the lag. I finally got a bead on her with the hydrophones. With the volume up, it wasn't that hard. Took awhile, but I managed a good solution. She was still around 4k yds out and making 7kts, so I had time to go get another Mountain Dew and some cookies. :smug:

When I got back she was about 1k out, so I decided to take a peek. Hey! The fog had cleared! Oh LOOKIE! A large tanker! I noted my plot put me a bit closer to her track than I usually liked. But, still good. And not too close so as the fish wouldn't arm before striking. I quickly added a third fish to the salvo, just to make sure. Set the first and second to slow speed and the third to fast. I figured to fire aft to bow. :yeah:

When the time was ripe I let the salvo fly and waited.

I grabbed the plate of cookies and was reaching for the Dew when all hell broke loose!!! :o

The screen went whitish orange in a flash... the roar in the room sounded like Deep Purple themselves were in the room (forgot to turn the sound down after lookin for her)!!! The Dew arced through the air like a Reggie Miller 3 pointer. The cookies scattered as if shot from a confetti cannon, which sent the dog off like a 7 year old on a sugar high at an easter egg hunt.

I crawled back to the screen and swung the scope around to see nothing but flotsam and floating bodies. YES!!!.. I sat there for a moment before chuckling and ordering the crew to surface the boat...

I turned to survey the damage done to the room in time to see the wife walk off, once again, muttering, "jackass"...

"HEY, how was I to know she was loaded with oil"????

At least the dog likes me.

same thing. a tanker. one torpedo. perfect shot.

it just kept exploding, and exploding, even after it went under. which of course drove the escorts around it absolutely daffy, firing flares up into the sky, as they were looking for the cause of it. :D thankfully, my crew and i were safe enough distance away to not spring any leaks.

You get a nice loaded ship to explode at the right time you can take out several. Most I've sunk is 5 ships, hit one, others explode, taking out others. Once I got lucky and took out 2 escorts by a tanker...boom.
Course you only get credit for the one sunk...which sucks.

I do recall a particular ship now, that seems to have a propensity for catastrophic explosions, in TMO anyway. On more than one occasion, I came across a Large Modern Passenger freighter, not the ones that are docked but, at sea. Upon torpedo impact, these ships detonated with a blinding light and then sent off ordinance in all directions that also would explode violently, as far as 100yds from the vessels. Sort of like a Fourth of July fireworks display, well, not this years version anyway.:salute:

Here's the NC going up. Nothing in game comes close. Haven't looked at the file and not sure what the load is. One torp will always sink it with one blinding explosion. I got devilish and attacked Halsey's TF. The Iowa is a little less than the Yamato in boom. What was funny I hit a NC between two fleet carriers and it took one out and had the other listing...Made some great SS's

Probably those fishing boats! :haha:
But I guess it seems big because the boats are so small.

MattJ wore out his welcome in the SH4 forum about a year ago, and then he disappeared. Take a look at the first post on his Visitor Message Board from long ago by another member of the community. He was then, and is still today (or yesterday) a braggart, a jerk, and while he was wasting our time with his self agrandizing posts (of which the one above is a concise example), he was polishing his credentials in the sim/forum in SH4 by taking on missions in auto targeting at an impressive 15 percent realism. The first time he took a "leave" from the forum he issued an apology for his over the top rants and posts. Then he disappeared. He reappeard (should I say "surfaced"?) after a hiatus of several months, posted like crazy, and was steered to SH5 (hopefully by the undersigned.) He disappeared again for around an month or two, and now is back. When he posts, he has done so in torrents, and I expect he will resume his previous pattern. I assume he is a teenager. I cut him slack in the SH4 forum in the past for that reason. No more.

MattJ does not know how accurate the opening clause of his bio information, posted below his avatar, is. It is not a freudian slip, and provides insight into his reality.

well, your sense of humor is.....nonexistent. obviously it was a joke, and other people here got it. it wasnt intended for anything mean. and this time it wasnt malicious in nature. i post to respond and when i have a question. i DO search the forums, and often come up empty handed because the search button rarely helps me. that post was the thinking of an 8 year old, which is why i felt it to be slightly funny. an 8 year old however doesnt have the intellect to say what i say and do what i do. And i disappeared for a year because you went completely off the deep end And i felt like everybody hated me because YOU do because YOU seem to have no sense of humor and no understanding. i come back and tell 2 stories and you be malicious by ranting that you think that I think that im better then you, JUST because i told 2 stories. it seems as though you need to grow up a little too, as mature adults dont do this over a forum post.

i disappeared for a month because i stopped playing SH5, because gameplay was so laggy it was intolerable. now i fixed it so that its.....decent at times and not decent at others.

And because i also get 1 word wrong you also complain about that too? whats your problem. and i admit when i first came here i was acting VERY stupid and made VERY bad decisions and i regret it. i honestly dont believe i post too often, considering there are many unpredictable aspects of this game and i havent figured all of them out, and i ask for help. either that or i give help when i know the answer and when i reply to people, just as other forum members do. so your viciousness towards me is formed without PROPER reasoning, and it has gone too far.

I do not have a problem with the pic. Why would I?

Given your past history, don't you understand that announcing you have "won," is indicia that you think your are the cat's meow (in a manner speaking.) Take note, heroes do not announce that they are heroes, others label them as such. (E.g. when ones girlfriends announce the man is a stud, it means something. When the man says it, is means nothing and is probably B.S.)

As for the mistake as to one word, I assume you are referring to Winston Churchill (that is two words, but no bigge.) You might want to correct it, but I am not recommending one way or the other. It just depends on what kind of impression you are intending to make.

A simmer playing at 15 percent realism really is not qualified to advise anyone on anything with any authority. You might want to try manual targeting, get your feet wet, and then review all that you have posted and revisit your posts from the perspective.

From this point forward, I will refrain from posting in with respect to your posts. I have made my point, and on some level I think you understood it.

Okay, I am through with the advice.

Always seeing the glass as half full, eh?

You may have found your calling. I have just sent a communique to the Greek Premier on behalf of the residents of Aiya Napa strongly recommending that you should head up the Greek negotiating team on Crete as they are sick and tired of all of the Swedish U.N. troops raising havoc with their young women. While you are at it, ask the Swedes if they are serious sending their young men to patrol in knee socks, shorts, blue scarfs, and UN Caps (a sure fire souvenir for a young lass.)

Actually I'm seeing the glass almost empty ... When you're 45, with a family, a "set" career and still finding yourself contemplating immigration ... well that can't be the definition of optimism, eh? :hmmm:
