AOB from map?

I'm trying to get the angle of bow off the map (map contacts is on) but no idea how even after looking at the howtos.

All i can see is drawing a line from stern through bow of a target then looking at that angle. That's only going to give me the course of the target though and nothing more. I can't see enough written detail in any of the tutorials to give me anything else.

So can anyone provide me with an idiots step-by-step guide for getting the AOB on a target via the map and map tools?

You have it backwards - draw a line through the target ship from bow to it's middle, then make the second leg of that line from the middle of the target ship directly to your sub's position. That angle will be your AOB, port or starboard.
