View Full Version : They all speak german!
Okay, so a few weeks ago I uninstalled sh4 after about a year or so.
then yesterday I realised I really cannot live without it and I installed it again. I wanted to give the trigger maru mod a try since I didn't use it before.. so I install the mod and it works fine. exept one thing: Everyone speaks german. Now that's great if you want to use a uboat, but annoying when I want to use the US subs.
I'm not sure why, because I've replaced all the speech files with the originals, and they still speak german. I've installed and uninstalled the DBSM mod to try to get the original voices back.. that didn't work either.
I'm guessing the problem came because I didn't disable the mod when i uninstalled the game, so it messed it up in a bad way.
If anyone can help me, I'd be grateful.
Thanks!

I would recommend a clean install. Follow this post on how to do it.

Well I had a problem the same like a lot of other guys there.. that the "0D005F09-A5F4-473B-A901-5735C6AF5628" registry didn't exist.
So I'm installing it to 1.5 again and then uninstalling with the 'easycleaner' software somebody recommended on that thread.
Honestly, I felt my heart drop after I heard 'geh'n wieder auf kurs herr kaleun' :damn:
Okay the clean install thing isn't working. Since I couldn't find the registry when I attempted it manually, I installed it again to 1.5 and used some software called 'Uninstaller 2008' that someone recommended on that thread. Once I uninstalled it using that software, I installed it once again to 1.3 and ran the game. But all my old mods were still in the game! (what confuses me most is that if I go into the data files they're all the original)
As I've said, I've tried to replace the files with the originals, which didn't work. And now the clean install isn't fixing the problem either. I assumed it was something I was doing wrong which is why I used the software but even then It didn't solve anything. As it is, I'm stuck with german speaking american sailors, and a years worth of old mods stuck into my game.
What I want is to install a vanilla sh4, and then I can install 1.5 and run TM. Trying to reinstall the game using the methods here aren't working, so is my only other option to buy new copies of the game? That would be a shame, since I only bought Uboat Missions in February this year.

The problem isn't with your copy of the game, so buying a new one would just put you out the money. Try installing to a different location and see if you can get a clean install that way. A last resort option would be to format your hard drive(s) and reinstall windows, but like I said last resort.
OK I installed it in a different place..
and yes it works fine.. thanks very much for your help! It took all night, and now I can go to bed at 07:50, knowing that later I'll install the mod and enjoy Sh4 like the old times..

"Everything's in German!"
Sorry had too, but this sounds like an odd mod misshap.

What you probably should've done after uninstalling the game, was to go and manually delete any files left behind that the uninstaller might have missed. The fact that you reinstalled the game and still found older mods indicates that some files, not originally installed with the base version of the game, were still left behind in the root folder. Sometimes, uninstallers remove all the files but leave the root folder intact if there are still files there that aren't originally associated with the stock version.:salute:

Good tip. I know for a fact that JSGME is left behind after you uninstall SH. You'll definitely want to make sure you disable all mods and remove JSGME before uninstalling again. :yep:
yeah, definately won't be making that mistake again. Thanks for the info
