Is this a Mod or how do I manage to get areas of operation other then the Med and Atlantic?

For GWX and SH Commander, start a career with 30th Flotilla (on or after October 1942) and you will get a Type IID (there is no Type IIB in SH3) in Constanza, Romania. I do not know of a stand-alone Black Sea mod outside GWX but there might be one in the Downloads section.

The Black Sea is divided into three patrol zones, East (Ost), West and the Sea of Azov. See page 201 in the GWX manual for 30th flotilla details.

With JSGME and GWX you can disable the other theatres by loading only the Black Sea files to shorten loading time otherwise you require installing the merged Campaign to get targets in the Black Sea.

Operations in the Black Sea can be fun and challanging, Soviet ASW is not up to RN standards but as things go bad on the Eastern Front, the Red Airforce can be a real threat. Target ships tend to be small and most are found in small convoys while the slow speed of the Type II can make operating against them difficult. Good Hunting and Enjoy.

BTW, where's Tomato Town? I grew up in Hog Town but retired to Lotus Land.

A Black Sea career is a nice change of pace. I'm running a career there along with my other careers. I'm around July of '43 or so.

With only 5 eels on a IID, you have to make every shot count and no deck gun makes finishing off cripples impossible if you are out of eels.

Enabling the merged campaign will populate the entire SH3 world....probably best if you only enabled the Black Sea campaign.

There is a huge troop transport in one of the ports:woot:. Although, I had problems with the game crashing when I encountered a convoy.

You should try keeping the battery pack charged :DL

Shame that there's that nasty subnet/cage wall right at the enterance to the Black Sea. Tried sneaking my VIIB up there once (which was no walk in the park, since the straight is so shallow that you can't submerge) the artillery batteries in that town nearly sunk me before even making it to that nasty little surprise. Though having a type VII or X running around the Black Sea wouldn't really convey the pain and suffering of serving on the Eastern front.
