If, and I do mean IF, you can live with the DRM?
Then yes it's a good buy now.
Prices are down, mods are up (and growing).
If the DRM is a problem in any way to you?
Save your money and we'll have less 'Battle Posts'.

Well, complains are justified with this one, this game was released incomplete with many bugs and missing features. But You are here in subsim, so don't worry! Here you can find lots of mods that many talented people have created to make SH5 something much bigger and better than it was when it was released. I can't tell you what mods to pic up, it depends your own taste, but with little search or going in to Silent Hunter 5 download section you will find lots of information of different kind of mods available!
I would recommend The Darkwraiths New UI's with TDC mod, or reaper7's Hires ui as a starting point. And Skwas's Speech recognition is one hell of a mod too.

And Yes! This game is definitelly worth buying!

It's an unpolished diamond :-? There are some annoying problems in the game but it's still a great game. So.... just buy it :D

As mentioned its a diamond in the rough but with the mods now in existence it is a whole lot better than it was.:yeah:

I just bought SHV online, so it's inbound. I've bought it not to play, but; to mod. To date I have never played a campaign on SHIII as all I ever did was mod and test, I expect to do the same for SHV. The more modders enhance SHV the more chance some one in the chain-of-command who has the ability/strike power to get rid of DRM in a patch will do so due to all the attention that modders are giving the game. Well thats my theory and I'm sticking to it :03:

Kind Regards

Congrats on moving to SH5 comrade:up:. Your story sounds a lot like mine. I got about 1/3 of the way through a campaign and then I started modding. Haven't actually played since.

Glad to have you onboard:salute:

And you two guys illustrate perfectly why Silent Hunter 5 will ultimately be successful, and why this Forum is the best out there. :salute:

This means we get 'Ice Ice Baby' for the Iceburgs in SH5 right?

Not only is there a thread here on the front page of this forum that is only eight days old, but YOU started that thread!

Starting this one again constitutes spamming, and that is not allowed here.
Please do not engage in "topic spamming", where you post several threads on the essentially the same topic in a short period of time. If you want to discuss women's synchronized swimming, fine; start a topic on it. But don't start another topic on women's synchronized swimming clothing, women's synchronized swimming schedules, etc. for several weeks. Same goes with threads on politics, religon, and cultural issues. We don't need six threads on "Obama is ruining America" and eight topics on "Arabs are Evillll!" on the same page.

I would be happy to buy it and try it but my game PC is not online and will not be online so when UBI releases a version that is without DRM I will make the purchase.

This 'online' gaming is OK for the manufactures, but for the guys who somtimes 'sell on' it is a bind. :wah:
