I used it religiously in SH3...but for some reason it never activates the mods in SH5. I remember in SH3, you would activate the mod, then launch the game in JSGME...am I remembering it correctly? Or you created a new shortcut...something like that? Anyway, I followed the instructions but must have screwed something up because none of my activated mods work.

Hmmm, set up a 'Mods' folder in your 'Silent Hunter 5' folder and then have JSGME in your 'Silent Hunter 5' folder. As long as the mods in the 'Mods' folder are extracted properly, they should install properly.

The Mods folder should have a mod with a folder with its own unique name, in which should be a folder called 'data'. If the folder has another folder in it called 'Mod name' then it's not been extracted properly and won't install properly.

I've never launched the game from JSGME, but that might be one of the many strings to its bow.

check your mods too, many are not set up to use as unzipped so be sure they are the correct mod folders and file paths

The only one that seems to work is the dialog mod where you have more options from the Officers. Pretty cool...but what I really need is the SHIII triple dials in the lower right. I HATE the new controls. Also, a Das Boot voice mod would be good...even though it would never be complete because of the extra dialog you have with each officer...but man, so I miss the German language sequence of "ALAAAAAAARM!" and the bells from the drill scene in the movie!!!!!

well that tells you that jsgme is working ok so its the mods, you must not be installing the correct mod folder so open them up and see whats going on

as for your wish list, all of that is done, just go to the sh5 mods section and download away

Ashamed to ask this...but can someone walk me through the PROPER way to get the mods installed so they work with JSGME? I am not too smooth with computers!

if you're trying to install any of mine just keep opening folders of the mod till you come to one that says 'Documentation'. Inside that folder is a text file that tells you everything about the mod and how to install it properly.

Hello, Everyone.

I've returned to Silent Hunter after a year of exploring other things - mainly in the Real World. - After resisting for a while, mainly over the DRM issue, I decided to buy SH5. I duly installed it and immediately went to set up the indispensable JSGME.

When I ran the game, I saw none of the mods I'd loaded. It was only after a couple of hours of hair-tearing and bad language that I realised what I'd done wrong.

Having used JSGME in SH3 and SH4 I'd automatically installed it to the SH5 folder in C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter V - the one which contains the Launcher.

For a while I was unaware that SH5 creates not only the folder C:\program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5 BUT ALSO creates a new UBISOFT folder in the root C: directory ( C:\Ubisoft ) - the same directory which contains C:\Program Files.

I installed JSGME in that folder and, lo and behold, the mods I installed appeared in-game.

I'm either getting old, or stupid - or both, but those of us who are used to the "old" file structure for Silent Hunter need to be a little bit aware.

By the way. It's good to see that so many of the Subsim "old hands" are still around, plus there are so many hugely-talented newer people here. It's good to be back - a bit like coming home, really.

yep, one folder is the actual game and the other is for the online check and update stuff
