Two silly questions.... can't find them in the game manual...

1). How do you open the recognition manual???

Tried the "N" key but nothing? Has it something to do with realism settings?

Have tried several things (am using voice command mod and have tried "Identify Target", this appears in the log bottom right but nothing else).

2). How do you plot a search pattern? I can do it manually but looking at the voice mod commands there is actually a game command "plot search pattern one". Doesn't seem to work though and don't know the mapped key.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!!

click on a ship type or name in the notepad to bring up the rec manual. It only shows in a periscope or UZO view.

Recognition manual is actually the dialog under your periscope view. When you lock target, there appears hyperlinks where you can click the name of the vessel (Freighter for example). When you click that, a ship image appears over the dialog, you can roll through different images with your mouse wheel and when you have the match, click check box under the image to confirm identification. Then click back for other hyperlinks where you can input all other needed data for the solution.

I warmly recommend you to download Reaper7's fantastic enchanced recognition manual and his Hires ui, or TheDarkwraiths UI (there is also option for Reaper7's recog manual). This recog. manual you have to drag from the left side of the screen where it's partially hidden.

With those search patterns I can't help, I don't use them, but I think I've read that they are bugged and won't work.

I use also Skwas's Speech recognition, that's a very nice mod, one of the best! I've added many new commands and variations to make it accept more "natural" commands and making it less monotonous. For example, if I shout "Fire torpedo!" too eagerly and it is not recognized, I've added "Fire, god damn it!" or for the nearest sound contact request I have many variations to ask it: "Hydrophone, report", "Where's the enemy now?", "Where is it now?", "And now?" Makes it so much more fun and immersive to have many alternatives to give the same order!

Thanks for the super-quick replies!! Will check that out tonight.

Voice mod is great, for me it fits well with the FPS style, making the game way more immersive. Changing the commands to more natural ones sounds like a great idea. Is it hard to do?

Will also have a look at the other mods you mentioned. Saw another one for enhanced weather effects so might try that too.

Speech recognition mod is actually pretty easily editable, there are two files in the mods data/sound/speech folder, grammar and commands file. Open them in notepad and see what there's going on. Go to the Skwasjer's Speech Recognition thread for more detailed information, there is good examples and tips!

Any plans to do a 'Kiel Canal' easy navigation type waypoint plot? I have to sail round the long way to avoid the tediousness of plotting it all by hand.
