I just started a career, out of Pearl Harbor, running RFB 2.0 with the RSRDC. I've played these Mods before and didn't have this problem so, maybe it's something peculiar to the current sub class I'm running. I've never run a Tambor Class with RFB so, anyway, here my dilemma:
I started out of Pearl, December 8, 1941 in a Tambor Class sub. I quickly noticed that the sub speeds, (i.e., 1/3, 2/3, Standard, Full, and Flank), are not running (to the best of my knowledge) at their proper (or usual) speeds. For example: 1/3 speed runs at 7kts, 2/3 speed runs at about 14kts, standard seems to run at 17kts and flank, well, flank is flank. I'm currently running these mods, in this exact order:
RFB_2.0
RFB_2.0_Patch_23April2010
Hydrophone Lines for RFB 2.0
RSRDC_RFB_v575
RSRDC_V5xxx_Patch1
Ship Pack1
Merchant Skinpack v2 RFB
Tillabous_coral sea_skinpack
Submarine Hull Numbers
Colored Torpedoes Mod Stage 2
Jace11's_More_Map_Labels_1_3
SH4 Authentic Flags Mod
EAX_Sound_Sim
JoC-Haifisch-SH4-1.1

Now, I tried removing most of these mods one by one and then restarting the game as a troubleshoot but nothing seemed to correct it. In fact, I got as far as having the setup below:
RFB_2.0
RFB_2.0_Patch_23April2010
RSRDC_RFB_V575
RSRDC_V5xxx_Patch1
Still, with the setup just listed, my speed settings problem were not rectified. Now, I'm able and willing to continue on using just the knot meter to set my speeds but, if anyone already knows of a sure fire fix, I'd certainly welcome the help.
Any further removal of mods results in the failure to load error.

Try the RFB thread. It's been a long time since I've played RFB, but seems speeds were different.

I think the Tambor was intended to be speedy. I did a google search and found:
One key to the success of the "T" class was the development of a compact diesel engine designed in concert with the American railroad (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Railroad) industry, which enthusiastically embraced the benefits of diesel-powered locomotives (and was delighted by the Navy's willingness to fund the huge research and development costs associated with their creation). Equipped with four of the new diesel engines, the boats could reach top speeds of over 20 knots (37 km/h) and make 10,000-nautical-mile (19,000 km) cruises without suffering from the engine fragility of the compact MAN diesel designs used in some of their predecessors.
Speed: 20.4 knots (38 km/h) surfaced[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tambor_class_submarine#cite_note-FriedmanSubs1-specs-2)
8.75 knots (16 km/h) submerged[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tambor_class_submarine#cite_note-FriedmanSubs1-specs-2) Range: 11,000 nautical miles (20,000 km) at 10 knots (19 km/h)[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tambor_class_submarine#cite_note-FriedmanSubs1-specs-2)So I think that your speeds are an indication that the game/mods have boosted the speed for the type of sub appropriately.

Adjusted speeds were part of 2.0. No need to worry.

Ahh, OK, so it is something peculiar with the sub type. Thanks for the assist, mates.:salute:

raymond6751's figures are exactly the ones used in RFB. The speed for each setting uses the following multipliers. Standard has been set for max fuel economy.
AheadSlow=0.33
AheadOneThird=0.66
AheadStandard=0.77
AheadFull=0.88
BackSlow=-0.26
BackStandard=-0.40
BackFull=-0.53
BackEmergency=-0.66

The best speed for fuel economy is 10kts. Therefore going Ahead Standard wouldn't be the best for fuel economy.

Wern, how do you like RFB? Haven't played it in a long time, may give it a try.
After shooting zombies all day with my son my head is spinning, need some calm waters.:doh:

I'm actually enjoying it this time. I must've fubar-ed the last install because this time it's playing much better. Except, I don't get the tonnage I used to, not early-on anyway but that's to be expected. The historical accuracy was tightened even more in the latest version and that's just what I like. The environmentals look much more refined too, though that may just be me. I think you'd like what they've done with it in 2.0, Armistead.;)
