Land rover Discovery 300tdi 1997 ('xs' trim)
Not driving it much as it's just about all I can manage to keep it taxed and insured (out of work). Been crawling about underneath it with a tin of underseal this afternoon, prepping it for its mot which is due on the 19th.
I love it and by choice wouldn't want to drive anything else (except perhaps a rangerover - not the footballer sport one, the proper one).

Clio fidji, 1997, 1.2 gasoline, 3 doors. white and rusty
I love this car, looks like an accident but it's tough. seen a rally almost every month and it's very maneuverable during winter, drove on snow and never skidded. But summers are tough, no air condition, just the lowered window

hehe :DL
only if you use a land rover main dealer... same as it is in the UK. I hardly get any parts from LR and I've never had it serviced by a main stealer since I've had it.
I remember seeing more discovery's in Canada than I was expecting (all V8's no diesel). Would not the US be the same?
A quick shufty online reveals several brittish companies exporting used LR's to the USA and something similar over there to the independent parts & accessories suppliers I use here.
I know there's a few guys on one of the LR forums who are from your side of the pond... lucky sods; running a V8 (either 3.5L 3.9L 4.2L or 4.9L) is way too expensive for fuel here, even if you get an LPG conversion kit fitted. It's why I went for the 2.5L diesel (though currently diesel is usually more expensive than petrol).
If you ever do think of buying one, if it has a 2.0L MPI petrol engine, just forget it and find one with a proper engine - either a diesel or a V8.

2003 Ford ranger.
It's smaller then a full size, but not too small.
Does everything i ask of it, reliably,
and.......
it gets great gas mileage. About 100 miles per 1/4 tank of gas. I usually fill it up at 1/8th of a tank, and put in 13 gallons on the average.
The perfect vehicle IMO, can fill just about any role shy of busing around rug rats. I'd buy another truck JUST like this one, and wouldn't change a thing. I hope Ford keeps making em, when im in the market for a new one some years hence.

But that car is a beast, for as much as it weighs I'm just fine with a 9.8 second 0-60, I sandbagged it a little because it was late and the exhaust is kinda loud X_X
EDIT: Mine is also a little more low slung than the one in this pic, my father and I tuned the suspension, it takes corners like an overweight ferrari

I'd love to get a Defender 110, but it sucks to have to shell out maybe 60-80 grand to buy a 16 year old car (restored, I have no desire to do anything on it myself, and I want a 100% reliable vehicle). I am one of these dubious but lucky guys who simply do not like to drive cars. I have a license, but I never needed it, since I never owned a car. Never needed one,l never wanted one, never had one. saves plenty of money!
What matters to me and what matches my living conditions best, is a good, reliable bicycle. Must not be anything specialm but reliable it must be - I travel up to 90 km away from home via bike. not good to get hit by a malfucntion or a flat tire - while being that far "out there".
For long range travelling, I also never used airliners. I did my voyages all by train or ferries, and on location via donkeys and mules, busses, rarely a jeep, or on foot. That are the only ways to travel if you really want to experience the travel itself. airliners are just timemachines, you could as well use a beaming transporter from Star Trek.
Once we were arrested in a kurdish village and carried out by Turkish troops on a truck - then I almost got killed by an idiot trying to impress the female assistant aid of my boss back then, by making tricks and behaving like an a##e in love - and loosing a shot from his rifle that almost cut my spine - 2cm were missing. worst example of a totally mislocated (non-commissioned) military officer I ever have met.
Needless to say, since then I not only hate travelling by airliners or cars, but travelling by trucks, too - especially with a flirting Turkish NCO onboard. :D
Cars - pfffft! :woot:

Provided they live close enough:O:
I hate driving, too. It's boring, tedious, and often makes me sleepy if I'm at it for very long. In one of life's cruel ironies, I'm also an excellent driver. (Thanks, God:yeah:) Stick, auto, trailered, towing, forwards, backwards, on-road, off-road, double clutching, wheeled, tracked, waterborne, whatever, I can drive it, and I can drive it well.
My preferred method of transporation for long distance is also a bike, albeit one with an internal combustion engine. I love riding motorcycles. Especially really, really, fast ones. I go places I don't even need to go just so I can ride my motorcycle; or at least I did, before some a-wipe stole it from me. When I get my new CBR-1000 I am keeping it in the garage.:shifty:
I'm not even going to go into all the reasons motorcycles are wonderful because this post would be intolerably long.
Other than that, I prefer to travel by horse. Nothing beats the feeling of being totally in-tune with such a powerful animal. A well-trained horse will often literally know what you want before you do. It's almost impossible to describe, which is just as well for you guys because my essay on horses would be ten times as long as my essay on motorcycles.:DL
For the moment, I drive around in a tan '04 Kia Spectra. I don't like it, it doesn't like me, and I can't wait for the day when I can get rid of it, but the dang thing runs like a dream. For $2000, it was a pretty good investment.
edit- Whoops! Almost forgot, riding a horse also gets you points with frau kaleun. Beat that, Sky :P

a bit of fuel when time too fill it up, :)
actually it's still a reasonable price in comparison to e.g. Alfa Romeo 145 which I was driving few years ago. With only 1,4 litre engine and sth like 108 HP u needed to keep high RPM all the time which in winter ended with sth like 14l/100km in "city-cycle". Diesels are much cheaper. Can't give you values for Mercedes but for Audi(a 3-cylinder, 1,4l. turbo diesel): about 330 kms for sth like 25 euro (atm the prices in Poland are higher so you wouldn't make as much) in "city-cycle".
