I know that in Germany I can cancel any order in an online shop within the first 14 days. So who knows the legal rules for order cancellation as - I seem to recall - they were made mandatory by the EU, so that a french shop also must obey them?
I seem to have run into problems with some gameshop in France where I ordered a game that is rarely available in Europe, Danube 85 by HPS. What they did not tell neither on their product description site nor in their conditions or anywhere else on their websites, is that they do not have the item in stock, and must get it themselves from somewhere - probably directly from America. However, I payed them in advance via paypal, since advanced payment was mandatory. Wouldn't have done that if I knew they do not even have what they advetise, and cannot even say any info on availability.
Not before some days later I learned that what they advertised as to be sold by then, is not in stock. Of three mails exploring on this issue and then the question of how long they expect it willö take them to ortganise the game, they replied only to the first, offering to chnage my order for soemthign that they have on stock (wiothout me being intereste din that and withiut bthem saiyng what the actually do have in stock now). The second and third mail asking for a timeline were ignored. 9 days are over.
Not telling customers that an item is no in stock and must be organised internationally, but keeping the customer in false belief and over that demand him to pay in advance, I consider to be dubious business practice. I have sent them a last mail now asking them for info. If they ignore me a third time, I want to cancel the order and tell them to refund via paypal. I must know about the timelimit I need to keep so that I can cancel indeed.
P.S. Has anyone made experiences with this shop, store4war.com? To my displeasure I just found via Google comments by two people who have made experiences compartable to mine with this shop, although it is some years ago. Not encouraging. One guy named Oleg (maybe even the Oleg we had in the DW and SC forum many years ago!?) said he had sent them 10 mails and got none answered until the tenth one.
