We did our vacation in April so the weather would be nice in Florida. The family did the Disney Parks, Sea World, Universal Studios.

Both for me. Most of my work is based around the university year, so I get lots of days off in the summer. This year a lot of short breaks - good as the weather has been fantastic for a change. So far:

Gloucester (we were going to Italy, but the weather here was better - no joke!)
Paris
Camping in the Cheddar Gorge last week
This weekend - London. Friday visit to the Hendon Air Museum (looking forward to that one), then probably the Henry Moore sculpture exhibition at Tate Modern - probably pick a few holes in that display.

Yes sir. I could not have ordered up the excellent weather we had in April. It never reached any more than 85 degrees. Rained once for about 1 minute. Humidity was all but non-existent. Honestly, the best week adventure and weather wise I have ever had. Dropped a pretty penny or two but well worth it and I would do it again...in fact, we already are planning next years! We did 6 parks in 5 days and still had plenty more to see! My girls still talk about the trip and still wish to go back.

I have ownership of my own business.

For those who have never attempted to own or operate their own legitimate business, ill tell you what its like.

Think baby Sea Turtle.

In 2008 the egg of my little baby sea turtle was laid in the sand. in 2009 it hatched out of the egg in the overall life cycle of businesses and this year is absolutely critical... as my business is with its brothers and sisters, rapidly rushing over a hundred yards of sand trying to reach the sea while birds of prey circle overhead (FAA, IRS, TSA).

Once my business reaches the surf, there are still dozens of predators cruising for an easy meal. (Maintenance Costs, Equipment Costs, Grounding Weather)

If by some miracle in 2011 my little turtle sweeps past the surf, and makes it into open seas, the chances of survival increase. Still there are many sharks and barracuda prowling the glimmering corporate waters.

Each year that passes, the odds of survival increase.

The undertaking of growing a small businesses is literally monumental in scope.

so... on the subject of vacation

Vacation is one of those mythical things... much like a Unicorn.

You hear about the elusive vacation, reports of it timidly coming out of the urban jungle on a misty morning once every couple of years to play on the beach for 5 or 6 days before retreating back into hiding.

some have even observed this creature... and have provided photographic evidence.

many others search for it but rarely glimpse it.

Needless to say, for me at the moment... Death would qualify as a vacation.

my last real vacation was August 2008, three months before securing funding for by business venture. I had left the airline industry, and was between jobs, living the life of a vagabond hippy.

My Dad took my mom, my sister and I to the Beach in Destin, Florida.

My grandfather had retired to the Port St. Joe area in the early 1980s and we had frequenly visited the area during the course of my younger years. (He passed away in 89.)

I had not been back to Florida since except on perhaps 2 or 3 flying trips which took me to the area on official business - and never more than a quick night layover or an hour or two sitting in a terminal building.

Essentially, it has been almost 20 years since i paid a visit to Florida purely for pleasure.

The purpose of the trip was to serve as a sort of reunion with the past, and a time of relaxation on the beach mixed in.

We were there for 5 days, it was great to get some salt water on my skin... didnt realize how much i missed it!

from that trip i formed a memory - one of many throughout my life - which will last me a life time.

My mother and I went for a walk on the beach out of nothing better to do. It was a clear night with nearly a full moon, a calm surf, on mostly abandoned sand. We probably walked just 2 or 3 miles out and back that night, just conversing. One day when my mother is long gone... i will still have that.

That was my last real vacation about 2 years ago.

Lord knows im due another.

My anniversary is next month. hmmmmm :hmmm:

Gone Fishing

I知 gone fishing
I got me a line
Nothing I do is gonna make the difference
So I知 taking the time

And you ain稚 never gonna be happy
Anyhow, anyway
So I知 gone fishing
And I知 going today

I知 gone fishing
Sounds crazy I know
I know nothing about fishing
But just watch me go

And when the time has come
I will look back and see
Peace on the shoreline
That could have been me

You can waste a whole lifetime
Trying to be
What you think is expected of you
But you値l never be free

May as well go fishing
I love this words, and song, btw we most do a celebration for your anniversary :DL

Right in one frau

He is now senior third officer on the Holland America cruise ship MV Ryndam....she does her final Alaskan trip during the winter months (he believes) then transfers to the Med schedule.

Mrs Buna would rather cruise the Med before she savours places like Juneau and the Hubbard Glacier :damn:

Call me crazy but I'd rather do the Alaskan cruise. I'm not really a hot weather person. Not that I'd turn down a Mediterranean cruise, mind you, just might not be my first choice.

I wonder if they do cruises to Antarctica? Prolly not. But that would be cool. Heh.

Depending on the boat, you may have to pay for liquor. Not a concern for me, but it can get quite expensive if you have to pay for it.

Dunno about that. On many occasions, The Frau and I simply ran out of words that could adequately describe the beauty we saw. It was one of the few times I was ever in awe of something and I am not normally an awe type of guy.
