Not the very highest quality, but haven't seen them before. Unfortunately I've lost the source... the InterNet! :D

Uploaded collection here (2.3 MB)... http://www.mediafire.com/file/r3mtounoxmm/NG WW2 maps.zip

If you know of better quality - or source! - please tell.

I think I used to have these very maps. Got them when I found several boxes of old NG magazines at the recycling center where I work. Believing them to be collectibles, I sort of, scooped them up, ahem, so to speak. Can't remember exactly what happened to all those magazines but, I believe I got rid of them somewhere along the way. I did, however, remove various maps and other inserts that pertained to WWII, along with inserts of other interests I have. I haven't seen them in quite some time so I'm not sure if I still have those maps or not. Still, there's a good chance they may just be packed away around here somewhere.

Copies of these maps exist on DVD. I know because I have a set packed in one of my teacher supply boxes. My NG dvd set is of all maps from NG issues up to the early 2000s. Another tip: if you have actual maps you could laminate them so they'll last longer. I laminated the actual maps I had and then rolled them up and put them in a stand so students could have access to them.

@Jan
I own them and they're packed in a box. What I can do is go into storage and find them. I should be able to find the map files and copy them. Might take me a day to do it. If I can I'll upload the specific map files so you can download a copy of the map.

That'll be highly appreciated!
May I recommend using MediaFire.com for upload?

If you have a PayPal account, please PM it and I'll buy you a beer! :salute:

I downloaded that set and immediately threw them out. Can't read a thing. I own several WW2 maps and location maps that I picked up at a local bookstore for $1 each.

I see they have the complete National Geographic on DVD-ROM available again for only $60. I missed an opportunity to buy this years ago, and now I'm going to get it.

Every issue from 1888 to 2000, including ALL the maps in scalable format like the one in your link. Thanks for the heads-up, and my order is in!

@Sailor Steve: That's exactly the set I have. I've got it out of storage and am going through the discs now...eh...in between cooking dinner and settling disputes between two kiddos here in this house. Who they really belong to I dunno :) You know how it is; tell em to go to their corners and come out swinging when they hear the bell.

I've been starring my eyes blind and still can't find it!?
Care to drop a link, Steve?

Would have ordered this nice "Ultimate World War II Collection" (http://shop.nationalgeographic.com/ngs/product/dvds/best-of-national-geographic/ultimate-world-war-ii-dvd-collection)... but was turned down by a tiny note: "Not available for shipment outside of the U.S. and Canada." :damn:

But glad to hear it's the same as the one Steve has a link to! Going to order as soon I can find the thing... :88)

On Admiral8Q's link you just needed to click 'Shop' on the upper right and it's the first thing that comes up.

[edit] I just noticed that this is a new version. It goes all the way to 2008 - 120 years' worth!

I may order those DVD's. I love all maps. I spend a lot of time in Google maps and Google Earth.:woot:

Okay. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the file converted and off the disk. What this NG Map dvd set does though is let you select areas of the map and copy them. So I used the open source GIMP program (It's like Photoshop but free) to put my copy of the map in so it can be scaled and exported as a JPG. Here's a link:
http://www.screencast.com/t/OTY4ZWRmNG (http://www.screencast.com/t/NGM0OTY0M)

Right click image and choose, "Save Image As'
I'm still working on getting a sharper copy of it.

FYI: The map appeared in the Dec. 1991 issue of NG.
