Yesterday I had my first TeamSpeak experience, talking to Jimbuna for a couple of hours. That was great fun, but not what this post is about.

Jim recommended that I use the 'Ctrl Button To Talk', rather than Voice Activation. I was browsing the Subsim forums at the same time, and suddenly my screen started going crazy, changing size seemingly at random! It took me a minute or two to realize what was happening, but...

Did you know that holding down the Ctrl button while scrolling the mouse wheel lets you change the size of what you're reading? Makes it much easier to either see more at once or enlarge it so you can read it better.

Who knew? :sunny:

Did exactly the same thing with Teamspeak on Thursday after a Lolwaffles flight :haha:

thats a nice zoom feature for the older crowd there steve :D

When im playing first person shooters i use the thumb button on my mouse as the push to talk switch for team speak or voice chat.

very convenient and requires almost no effort or attention from the game.

Oh noes! You're going to try this on the Aussie pic I posted with the 750 naked chicks aren't you!? Well, at least I know I am! :yeah::haha:

EDIT: Just checked! Damn it! Much too distorted for any real sexual gratification! :damn:

When I was on TS I used the home or insert key to talk. That can be problematic outside of a game though

TS is an awesome bit of kit.

I use the ctrl key 'push to talk' thing too, Steve. But I only use TS in-game as it were.

Makes such a difference to have contact with your squad-mates. Hehe, anyone playing with clan tags almost definitely has the edge over the solo fps gamer for that very reason, unless you're logged in to the servers TS.

Used TS a lot when I used to play in MOHAA-SH tournaments (SH League and a few others over the years) and more recently to chat with some guys from my old clan gaming days with NER (new european regiment) and EBA (european brothers in arms) whilst playing on COD2 tactical realism servers.

I seem to remember Subsim had a TS channel at some point. Is that still going?

NOTE: in FF if you ctrl+mouse wheel to zoom your page out of whack, ctrl+0 resets it to normal.

I had no idea. Thanks, Steve. Now my text is finally back to normal size after months of being annoyingly large. I was clueless as to why it happened.

Who knew? :sunny:

I did cos a remember telling ya :smug:

Tomorrow night I'll show you how to 'whisper'....(talk to others who are in the same section of TS with you but prevent them from hearing what you are saying to the sole recipient of your message).

21:00 GMT....I have a hunch Kratos may make his long awaited return. :sunny:

Cool, but I'm not sure if that's 1500 or 1400 where I'm at. We're six hours apart, but I'm on Daylight time.

I knew it.:|\\ To tell the truth i found it by sheer luck. After the installation of Win7 was done the desktop view showed up and i was surprised by the size of the shortcuts. A few days later i found out how they could be resized...:ping:

Indeed...but...a Stuka? Against a P.11, Gladiator or Swordfish perhaps...but against a Hurricane or Spitfire? :hmmm: Still...those tailgunners do sometimes have laser sights...as we've all found out before... :damn:

They can also see through clouds and shoot through their tails without sustaining any sort of damage at all!

And a Hurri is not nearly as unkillable as a P.11...

It's seven hours actually 21:00 GMT = 14:00 Salt Lake time.

I reckon you know that now because you made it last night :DL

I downloaded teamspeak at the weekend, dug out my old (but never used) headset - acquired from previous employer, thank you your majesty, just need someone to talk too :wah:

Just got 1946 so will be figuring that out tonight but hoping for some online SH3 one day in the not-too-distant.

... I say never used, it's been in the garage for a couple of years and a mouse obviously took a liking to the padding...:-?

Back to the first post, yes, I knew, I use it all the time... :know:

You could remove the padding and make new ones out of cotton (say from cotton balls wrapped in plastic wrap in an 'O' shape) then cover it in a sheet of linen held on by a twist tie that will hold it on to your head set.

Yep heard of that one. I know some Brit FAA carrier pilots flying propjobs killed a MiG or two in Korea too.

It's not a Gucci 'proper' headset, just a cheap Labtec one-ear and a mic thing, but there is no padding left, I removed the remnants this morning. It's the ear-comfort I'm worried about not the staying on my headness... if it were just that I'd use tape! :DL

The GWX TS server uses TS2 and can be found at:

Hunter ICX and the Lolwaffles can usually be found there each Monday at 21:00 GMT flying IL2.

You're right then, it's seven hours difference. I don't know what I was thinking, but then I rarely do.

Yea... what I was describing would make it more comfortable to wear. Basically I was saying make a new ear pad out of drug store cotton and hold it on with a sheet of linen or gauze.
