View Full Version : Is Our Weather Gear merely Cosmetic?

Would there be a chance that Watch Crews receive a stipend of awareness for wearing sealskins during rains?

Is there a chance that awareness suffers because Watch Crews are not properly attired during "unseasonable weather"?

Is this something that can, if not, be modeled into the simulation?

The Four-Hour-Watch could arrive in any inclement weather, and the crews reacted in the appropriate manner. But does the programme compensate for the environment coupled with the foresight or shortcomings of the crew?

If not, well...

...further study for the programmers seeking the Ultimate U-boat Sim.:hmmm:

Fair seas.

if your crew was put out in nice weather and it becomes bad, they will not change into the weather gear. crew will only be in the proper clothing (shirts or weather gear) based on the weather at the time they were put into that slot. its cosmetic as far is i can tell, be necessary for anyone who wants to be immersed.

If you use the All Weather Guns mod, the changes made to allow gun use in all weather also cause the bridge watch to wear only their "normal" uniforms and/or clothes in all weather - meaning they never don their foul-weather gear no matter how bad it gets up there. When I used it I never noticed any drop off in their abilities or performance. I don't think wearing or not wearing the oilskins makes any difference beyond the watch's appearance.

I think that the weather gear is tied to the wind speed. Ive noticed that 5m/s is the cut off, or at least close to that, and anything beyond that you can not man the guns, and the crew will not ever don gear below it (unless they already had it on of course). Im assuming that his mod raised that bar to 15m/s, which seems to be the highest windspeed in game.

Wind speed and also precipitation if I remember correctly. But you're right - the same parameters that determine whether or not you can use the guns determine whether or not the crew will wear their oilskins. When you mod them it affects both.
