SH5 is like a living thing . The DRM meant that SH5 needed to be on life support . The DRM rantings cut the legs off and arms off and it was bleeding to death before we could get to it . TheDarkWraith and other modders have been bandaging and giving life support . Some people just want to see it die . Some people pulled the life support , and some people just love the bright clothes its wearing (joke) . So if the people stopped kicking it in the ribs or just stopped praying for it to die or thought that maybe the life support could be pulled early and still live ...........too many beers .

Judging by the new comm dev's response here (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1121062387/m/1851004178?r=4841008178#4841008178) there won't be one anytime soon, if ever. If I should extrapolate the answer from previous actions by Ubi and other companies in similar situations I'd lean towards "never".

The DRM rantings cut the legs off and arms off and it was bleeding to death before we could get to it.
While your comments are fair and do mention the 'other side', I singled out this one, since it could be just as easily argued that DRM itself cut the legs off. The question had nothing to do with DRM or the "bright clothes" - he just wanted news on the patch, not speculations of why the news might be one thing or the other.
That same comment could also be construed as ranting.

Yup.
I'll even say they abandoned ship before making SH5. That's the only explanation for it.

Others have answered your question about the future of another patch.
I will just add that I 100% agree with you merlin. I do NOT like how the current mission system puts the player into a narrow track and feel it totally destroys the immersiveness of an open game. General guidance (ala SH3 missions) is much more preferable and realistic to the current mission system.
Only the power of enthusiasm can wake this dead peace of crap again.. The more I think about SH5 the more I feel the termination of GWX4 was a fail.

Sorlim offers a ray of hope....maybe not a very bright one, but a ray of hope.
The first priority is not about removing the DRM for people like me who have not yet purchased the game. The first priority is to get another patch for those who have purchased the game.
If sorlim was to manage to get another patch out of ubisoft, then that would be huge in my book. :)

As there is no active UBI Dev team working on SHV it seems any fix/patch in the near future will becoming from the Subsim community and our very talented modders.

Ubisoft abandoned ship long ago. it's just taken them a while to tell anybody. :nope:
Hey at least we got a new, Very Personable, Community Manager, who will be starting a weekly joke coloum...
It's just too bad he can't do a thing about UBI supporting this currently dead title other than tell us he's here for us. :damn:
And the more I read statements like that the more I understand why some members will never give SH5 a fair chance.....
Fair chance ? what fair chance ? Weren't they all been wasted by now ? UBI's attitude towards SH5 gives no chances to think about fair chances anymore. Hope is a mother of fools, the more you hope the more you feel let downed later. Fair chance was alive at the time when the last Subsim meet in Copenhagen took action. At the time all seemed to be rolling in steady nice flow. Relations with SH5 dev team (well at least with one of them) seemed to be promising, that finally we will get what we want - A Total U-boat Simulator. Sadly the reality is cruel. SH5 has hit the shelves totaly up by enormous quantity of bugs and ridiculouss DRM protection that requires constant Internet connection. Now how terroristic or rapistic is that were spoken in many various threads. So on the final note, all the hopes of ours about the decent simulator were japed on the moment we saw it. I remember Neal at the very begining tryed to fish out the positive aspects of the game and point them out to the community, but that didn't last long too, I bet finally he also got p.issed off because of UBI doesn't care at all and went dead silent watching others bashing SH5 as it deserves it. And what now ? Is there anything else to look forward to in the future ? I know officially SH5 is dead, only moders might do some magic now. GWX5 for instance ? not yet ? I give up you do the guessing. Tired of banging my head at the wall of obscurity..

The termination of GWX4 was not a fail.
:stare:
There were many reasons to put an end to it all.
The Primary reason (in my thoughts)
was pure exhaustion and personnal problems suffered by all the GWX Team members.
The secondary reason was the hype over SH5.
We felt we could not offer a viable package for SH4 that would not be
over shadowed by the release of SH5.
We were wrong in the secondary reason, Yes.
But not the Primary reason!
GWX Members suffered personnal problems for the sake of a Game.
For what?
Not a one of the Team ever saw a dime.
Many gave up not only free time,
they changed thier business to apply more time to SH issues.
So don't refer to the choice to terminate the project a fail!
It may prove to be the vacation needed!
Ok Privateer, but in one way it is a fail in another it is a vacation :) I always thought GWX4 was canceled because of SH5 coming in the horizon as a major reason.I bet it was kind of silly to continue work on GWX4 knowing that SH5 (we hoped it's going to be better than anything in the past) is coming. It is a fail because SH5 has not met our expectations and it is a fail because no new progress was made due to waiting for SH5. I will not touch personal things about RL matters of GWX team members. Somewhat it is another topic but still closely related and can't be written off let it be a vacation to you guys. Nevertheless there is nothing to look forward officially for the present. Might be it is just my personal preference but I always do like waiting for things I know I'll enjoy, this is because it is a fail to me. :) And because UBI totaly roused me up with SH5 I said GWX4 termination was a fail. But this wasn;t ment to be any of offence to GWX dev team itself.

Just to clarify... in case the last bit of Privateer's post above is confusing to anyone:
Neither myself nor the executive officer (Jimbuna) ... nor anyone else... will be re-convening the Grey Wolves Expansion project or development team. It will be maintained as a retired freeware team and project in good standing.
We have done our collective bit for the community, and I will not lead a team into that lion's mouth again.
It is time for some other mod team and mod team leader to slog it out under a NEW mod project title.
All that being said, to whoever it is that plunges in and has the ACTUAL fortitude and staying power to rescue SH5 from the tar-pits... God bless ya.

''Right now, Silent Hunter 5 does not have and cannot get a development team. The people that have worked on the game have been assigned to different other projects for the time being. This does not mean that SH5 has been abandoned and the situation might change in the following months. I have no time frame for a possible improvement nor can I estimate the chances of it happening.
So, for now, we must rely on the modders to improve the game. I'm asking for your help in putting together a basic list of must-have mods.''
Appreciate that actually tried and noted most thing we told him and that at least spent some time for us searching for answers(Thing that UBI actually never seems to do)he said he coem here to subsim sometimes.
AT least he directly gave to us the innevitable answer for the next montsh do not w8 for something new, something like the Sh project was abandoned( maybe paused) and for sure if they reput the dev team, they will have to wait some months to finish their project or put a new dev team that ill have to reunderstand the whole thing again, and wait again some months.
Actually now seeing the state of Sh5,( w8...now i understand that im very furious....speaking/telling helps also for calming down and rethink and make use of logic) for contrasting i know why Sh3 did better: they worked with the uboat veteran that give tips to them( probably when showed did thing in ''Sh5 quality'' he will everytime give them a slap(right word?) in on their faces till they do it more properly.
Now im calmer.... well in the end at least i appreciate that they gave us a sub game that actually is better than nothing
Just remebered old days in Sh3 at 1944 with teh tension of not being hit by a destroyer when damaged, flooding forced to stay on sea floor at 90 m......

So now we're left to beg the questions:
Please ask the Ubisoft accounts department what address the modders can submit their invoices to.
And where can we download the sh5 source code, so we can fix all the faults in this piece of abandon-ware?

DAMN...I cant believe ANYONE would bash the GWX team for calling it quits. HELLO...they did GWX FOR FREE!! I think they are entitled to call it quits whenever they want.
Privateer... Im alwasy in awe over what the GWX team did..even today! The fact GWX even came into being, as amazing as it was ...with NO ACCESS TO THE SOUCE CODE was just astounding.
Sure I wish GWX 4 would have continued...but I think MANY of us here were surprised to see the GWX team even try and tackle SH4 after the lenghty process GWX 3.0 was.

Smoke and mirrors, "hope" to keep the community in line. It's not our responsibility to fix SH5, it's Ubisoft's. sorlim can hint at all he wants, but until Ubisoft commits to another patch, I'm considering this game dead and done. They've failed us. It's not up to us to do anything but never buy another Ubisoft product again.
Ubi is the very first RAT(not my intend to offense mammals) running away of this sinking ship. No more "patches" or expansions or whatever, please UBI Letīs The Honorable Saga die with Honor.
We can expect nothing from them(well, maybe joking, they are so funny...), but this is not a drama, this is an OPORTUNITY to other/s and us.
Ubi donīt like subsimmers neither subsim or serious games. Ubi despise us (SHV is the blunt, living proof of this fact). Who cares! If you donīt want to make this game then I donīt want to play it! :stare:
This is the right time for other developer( Who knows, even one that loves its job! There are people like that) to challenging us with a completely new well done game...
Oh, yes, I have a dream...
Iīm waiting, Iīm a subsimmer. Yes, I can wait, Iīm always waiting... Patient is my second name.
MEANWHILE Iīm playing,iīve paid, ROF; A well done, finished, beautiful , awesome game with a lot of potential. Neoqb is taking a great deal of care over their work. Maybe, in the future, a subsim will be made in this way.I Hope!! :DL

Totally agree, its obviously that SH5 is abandoned. I bought it and I feel abandoned too. UBI got my Money for SH5, and its still keeps crashing to the desktop and Ubi was steeling himself away like a Robber. No Police and no Court world wide will be able to catch them. :arrgh!:
That's a real crime story with a happy end for the robber and all victims are doomed and sinking down to the ocean floor.
"Well done UBI", never UBI Game anymore, you can close you door. And if you do so, you will be charged to release all SH5 Gamers from the DRM. Go ahead and realize, how its feel like to sink in his own Ship, following all your victims in a whirl.
